Ruger's New Model Blackhaw in 44 Special vid

Post by O.S.O.K. »

Just got through making a youtube vid of my Ruger 44 Special. Really like this little single action.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiM9TVTb ... rv34pHjE-A

The second load that I'm shooting is a great one! Really and all-around load that can be used for anything up to whitetail/hogs for hunting or for self defense. 9 grains of Alliant Power Pistol under a 250 grain cast Keith boolit for 1060 or so fps. Got the load from Brian Pierce in Handloader mag.

I really could do with this one handgun if I had to. Not that I want to!

That second load definitely shows more punch. All that I have shot out of My 2nd gen Colt is some that I bought and they Hurt. Nice Vid.
Funny how You draw a picture of someone in Ur mind just from text that They have written. I had U pictured as someone up in age, maybe 60s or 70, but obviously U aint that.

I have two of those .44 New Model flat tops. One 5 1/2" Bisley grip and a 4 5/8" plow dandle just like yours.
I agree, they are SWEET revolvers and just the right size in the hand. :D

Great Video, Thanks for posting!

I don`t have a picture of the other yet.

Perry - 52 is old enough ain't it? lol Feels old enough...

Nice grips on that Bisley! Gotta love the Ruger single actions.

And if you haven't tried that load with Keith boolits and 9 grains of Power Pistol, you're missing out! ;)

Good video. I really like the 44 Special and the Blackhawk, I just don't have them both in one package. I need to remedy that.
How are the steel targets attached to the hog panel? I like the look of that set up.

This is one of my sticker guns - no way I'll ever sell it.

The back of the steel plates have bolts sticking out and they go through a short piece of pipe which makes a kind of hook that I just wired to the panel. Since it's behind the plate, no worries of getting shot off. And the panel itself is holding up well - the wire just bends some when it gets hit. The panel is mounted at an angle towards the shooter and the plates hang away from it a bit. This keeps the splatter going down, where I want it.

No prob - be sure and post up pics or a video when you get it done! I'd love to see it.

I'm going to use half a panel and hang some targets at 50 yards as well - down the side of the slope down into the draw.

Good video with one exception, please keep your finger off the trigger. I know you know it was unloaded, but it might give a novice the wrong idea.

Great video! I love the .44 Special round as well. Thanks for the recipes! :D

BTW, I think the word you were looking for was "concentric".

concentricity actually... :) But I don't think that's a word either. But it sounds right.

The Lee bottom push sizer dies make for concentric boolits.

Finger on trigger? I'll go back and check - I was alone on the range but still I do like to present proper safety.
