I hope Ruger expands their product line to a few more offerings in each area. North Carolina is and up and coming State for gun-friendliness and conservative values if the current State administration flourishes and the conservatives expand their published agenda.

They're expanding the Super Reds, dunno exactly what else.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
I hope they expand their sporting line as well, but have my doubts. Their direction seems to be in black guns, pistols.
I would like to see the Red Label and Gold label come back. I would also like to see them make a foray into semi auto shotguns.
In rifles, I would like to see a nice heavy bolt action for a change, a move from all of this light weight stuff.
Maybe they will go completely bonkers and deliver a lever action.

The Gold Label's dead. That's one of the few Ruger designs that was actually UNDER-built.
Red Label? Watch & see.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
In the latest customer survey I received from Ruger , when asked what I would like to see them build, I said a side by side Coach Gun for CAS. Made by Ruger, it would be a class act I am sure.
Re: Ruger is expanding!!
I recently heard Tom Gresham on Guntalk radio say that when he talked to people at Ruger they said every line they have is working at 100% capacity and they are selling everything they can make.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
Are they expanding, or transitioning to another state? It will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
Ruger is running five shifts, they can't do any more with what they've got.
They're expanding, with a new facility, they're not moving.
Ruger may or may not build another double shotgun someday, but it won't be the Gold & it won't be for CAS.
CAS has peaked & isn't the market driver it was.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
Two points.
First, note the addition was in NC. I'm sure there's lots of empty facilities begging in Conn.
Second, did you note 220,000 sq. ft.? Pretty good sized place. You can get a lot of production lines up and going and then still have room, maybe for corporate headquarters to move there?
Politicians up north still need to learn their votes have consequences.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
They have made some excellent 'Target' and 'Hunting' rifles, handguns, and shotguns, but as far as 'Defense' weapons, they only make rifles and handguns; I'd like to see them open up their engineering department and innovate a Home Defense Shotgun...

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
I'd rather see them expand the #1 selection back to what it was a few years ago !
Use a better more adjustable trigger on the #1 as well .
Go back to the original 77 bolt action with the tang safety . As well as chamber the 77VT in 22 PPC and 6mm PPC again !
And quite possibly bring back the 44R autoloader in it's original style . Not this revamped thing they brought out a few years back .
Heck even start a custom shop !
The tactical black gun thing ain't my thing and I realize a good many of you like that stuff . And to that I say . TO EACH HIS OWN !

LOVE IT!!! The only thing better would be if it was in South Carolina. Hope more gun companies expand - and/or relocate all together away from anti-gun states. Time to punish those fools!!!

Love Ruger!
Re: Ruger is expanding!!
My brother and I both have Gold labels. Nothing wrong with it.
Bill died unfortuneatly before it could really get off of the ground.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
Bill Ruger was not much involved in that Gold Label.
Had he been, it would have been either a different gun or never born to begin with.

Do they blow up or shoot loose or something? Sheesh, you really seem to have a thing about those Gold Labels!DPris wrote:Bill Ruger was not much involved in that Gold Label.

A gun company expanding instead of being harassed or sued out of existence. Wonderful.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
Oly,
I've talked to a retired Ruger engineer about that shotgun, and another current employee.
The gun is no longer in Ruger's lineup for a reason.
It doesn't blow up, but it's...just not as overbuilt as most of Ruger's products tend to be.
It would not have been promoted by Bill Ruger.
It will not be coming back.
IF Ruger ever does bring out another double shotgun, it'll be a different version.
I was sorry to see what happened to the gun, handled a couple, had considered initially buying one & shortening it into a coachgun version, but....

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
Great news!
I'd love to see them apply their engineering and production prowess to produce a modernized AKM that accepts standard mags. I know they have the mini-series of carbines but an AKM-ish design would be great. Maybe have the receiver/buttstock/pistol grip all be one piece of reinforced polymer... with an aperture rear sight and scope rail over the receiver for optics. Use the standard AK type bolt/carrier/piston set-up.

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
All I want them to do is to never use that glowing plastic sights on their single sixes ever again. I have 2 single sixes and I still enjoy looking at new ones, but those fiber optics sights have to go. They should call it an "outer space single six".

Re: Ruger is expanding!!
A acquaintance at the gun club says he has inside knowledge (he holds some stock but I doubt he is a insider) that Ruger is looking at producing a pump action rifle, mostly for export to places like Europe and similar restrictive gun laws.
I don't know if I believe him but I always liked the old IMI Timberwolf as a truck gun.
