Thanks guys..
Joe just called a bit ago. He said it is looking like he may be stiuck there for another three days. Of course that does not thrill him one bit.
Evidently whatever this is that he came down with is rather rare around here and he has gotten a lot of attetion from the specialists at SIU.

Thanks guys.
I jsut got back home a little bit ago.
For now he is still stuck there. He did something to his right shoulder in all of this or it is part and parcel of the problem.
So tomorrow he gets more cat scans and an MRI to make sur there is no infection in his spine.
I and a friend of mine think they are being extra thorough because they sent him home last Friday without finding this.
Each doctor that comes in has a different opinion as to how or where he could have gotten it. They started him on a specific antibio that is directly for the infection. Some sort of penicillan or derivitive of it. That is going to be a test for sure cause years ago he had a bd reaction to somesort of penicillan. They are being real careful and watching him like a hawk. LOL

Well they tried to do an MRI today but with all the problems his muscles locked up and caused so much pain that they only got half of it done. He is still running fevers off and on. Son't know what they are going to try next.
He is rather restless with being so confined and weak at the same time.
Thanks for all the prayers. We need them that is for sure.

For all of you,
Joe is supposed to be getting out tomorrow. He will however have to make daily trips to the hospital as an outpatient for daily IV antibiotics for a while. Whatever this was it must have been a nasty one to take so long to respond.

Prayer Request for J Miller

Post by J Miller »

OK,

I am back home. Rolled in the driveway just after 4:00 PM.

Symptoms:
Excruciating agonizing pain in my right lower back and right leg. I could not walk. They thought is was faking it so they ran a blood pressure on me: 239 / 187, and it kept rising. Removed my clothes and did a second CT scan. Saw something just out side of their range.
Did another one the abscess showed up. I was hoping for generosity for an old guy. But they didn't have any.
The next day they took blood, and more blood. For two days we waited for the results of the blood tests.
They decided to run an MRI on the lower back, leg and abdomen, I didn't want to do it, I knew how horrible it would hurt. That was an understatement of the century. I got some oral and IV pain meds and got settled down.
Two doctors came to me and tried to twist and manipulate me so I 'd so I'd take the MRI. I refused several times then contacted one of the nurses who when I explained what was going on to them they made short work of the Drs.
They changed my pain meds several times, including the main antibiotics
More to come

Joe

Too mean? No but this time that bug has got him good.
He will be on outpatient status for at least the next month. UGH!!
We will have to go up to the hospital evryday for more IV meds.
