No on the cow elk draw, but I did draw a bull moose tag guess I'd better load some rounds and do some scouting for a big bull. been drawing for 20 years would hate to get a just a meat bull and have to wait another 20. danny

Good job and hope you get a nice one. I tried for over twenty years to get an elk tag in Michigan, never did get lucky. How big do your moose antlers get in Montana?

Twenty years is a long time, wow! Here's hoping you get a big one. What time of the year is your tag good for? Two of my little brothers got drawn up near Peace River for Bull Moose in November.

Thanks for the best of luck, it opens on 15 sept and runs to 1 dec. I will probably be in the mtns gathering cows so I carry a 94 30-30 loaded with beartooth 173 cast. my regular hunt gun is a 99 in 300 have used hdys 180 RN for years will try speer deep curls this year. I like heavy for caliber bullets as the big bears are out there hunting too plus you get better penetration. I push all my rifle bullets with RL-15 am going to see if I can get good groups and more speed with RL-17. when I told Dad I drew he said when you drop one saddle up another horse I'll come along and stand guard while you break down and pack, he carrys a 250 sav 99 for all critters he upgraded to that from a sav 22 HP when he couldnt get ammo anymore. more than likely he will take a nap while I work

A pic of a hunting buddy's son's elk from last year NE slope alder thicket he was coming off the top of the mtn when he jumped him in his day bed that kid kills a big bull every year.
