It was time for a change, Guys and Gals!
Just under a year ago I went to work for a new company with promises of $BIG$ bonuses and
easy work load. Well after a year of 50-60 hr weeks and NO bonuses I officially resigned and my two weeks
was up today!
Back to self employed status and thrilled about it. I'm already booked up for the next two months!
I'm actually going to have a real day off tomorrow! No phone, no email, just me and the dogs!

Congrats on being your own boss again. One thing I learned the hard way, was get it in writing. If they won't put it in writing, they're just blowing smoke up you back side.

Good job, if they don't come through with what they say, walk.

My considerable experience with "corporate America" leaves me with this maxim: ALWAYS have a "Plan B."

Good luck Jason. Well done. Sometimes hard to make decisions like that. Admire your willingness to stand up for what's right

Took some convincing of the "Better Half" but Blondie has always been pretty realistic. We've been operating
at a deficit for almost a year and as I was self-employed when we met she finally came around.

Good Luck, Jason. I always like be my own boss, too. Sometimes feast...sometimes famine, but either way you only answer to yourself and your family.
What line of work do you have lined up for the next several months?

Hope you like your new boss better'n I like mine. Some days he works my tutu off, others he won't even talk to me... sometimes he buys me guns & other toys... I think he might be a schizophrenic! But, part of me doesn't really want to know!

My Family have been builders/contractors in OH since before the Civil War. I've been working for large
commercial restoration companies for the last eight years and haven't been happy with that decision for the last
six. I'm going back to being a finish carpenter, and painter if need be.
The company I just left has a real problem, the phone rings all day long with new business but there aren't
enough people in the field to get the work done. I was so unhappy with the long hours and lack of appreciation
that I decided that I'd be better off in the field. That company phone comes with a huge responsibility.
Enough was enough!
All that and ONE week off a year! BS!!

it always amazes me that once they hire you, they must think you can't leave, so they break their promises and treat you as if you were bound to the land.
But you left the last place you worked, so that sort of thinking isn't logical.
Were they surprised?

I'm seeing more and more of that. Corporations lying to get the most out of an individual, burning them out, and then "on to the next sap". The company I work for does it all the time with management. (You see you union haters---THATS why we NEED unions)
Ya done good Jason by figuring them out early before you had a lot of time invested in the rats.

El Chivo,
The boss Lady was really surprised. I don't think they realize how bad they beat up the estimators.

So very interesting that the rich and well to do wanted constitutional protection by way of the freedom of contract clause, and more protection resulting from court interpretation of 1925 arbitration act. Those kind of things, not foreign o invaders or terrorists will cause the next revolution in this country before my grand kids pass on, IMHO!!
