 Yeh Ted that's it, global warming, it only got down to around 29 here. Kept the snow mostly melting, but it did do some serious drifting last night.
Quit snowing about an hour ago.

14 degrees here in Lander WY this morning and sunny, after about 12-14 inches of snow yesterday. Supposed to be 46 today, into the 60's by Tuesday.

I worked a couple weeks in Lander, 1989 I think, maybe 1990. Sure was a nice little town (probably still is).

This is disgusting. The humidity is so high here we're still using the A/C.

Send a little this way!
Thunder storms off and an all day. Stupid humid for this time of year!

Went to the park with my little buddy this morning for a walk in the woods. Two hours later I was soaked
and General Jackson ( my Rat Terrier) was pooped!

(This picture was from June at my cabin in PA)
Still about 80 out there, and not a puff of air moving! About ready to turn the A/C back on!

YEP, WE ARE BURIED IN THE WHITE STUFF. NOT ONLY 3-4' BUT IT WAS DRIVEN BY 50-70MPH WINDS FOR OVER 15 HOURS. THE ENTIRE CITY OF RCSD IS SHUT DOWN. OUR SUPPLY OF LIKKER, WINE, AND BEER IS SUFFICIENT TO LAST THROUGH NEXT WEEK SO I AM NOT WORRIED....SO FAR.
MANY OF MY NEIGHBORS HAVE NO ELECTRICITY SINCE 300PM YESTERDAY BUT WE WERE ONLY OUT FOR 2 1/2 HOURS LAST EVENING.
IT TOOK US EIGHT HOURS TO DIG OUT FROM THE BACK DECK TO THE FRONT DECK WHERE THE FRONT DOOR WAS BLOCKED BY TWO FOOT OF WIND DRIVEN SNOW. THAT SH.. IS HEAVY !!! IT ALSO TORE DOWN ABOUT HALF OF THE BIG WALNUT TREE IN MY FRONT YARD...WE DANG NEAR CRYED, GUYS. ON THE HOUSE TO THE WEST THE ENTIRETY OF THEIR ELECTRIC, PHONE; AND CABLE LINES WERE TORN COMPLETELY OFF THE HOUSE AND DOWN BY CRASHING LIMBS.
BIGGEST MESS I EVER SAW.

It's not the snow as much as the drifts. A friend of mine in Rapid City, SD:

Wow!

It went all around me, I got a light spit that accumulated on some fence posts and nooks and crannies, but nothing on the ground. You guys down south (Don Mc etc) seem to get way more than we do.

I feel sorry for you boys living in such inhospitable places. I admire your courage. But ... it ain't for me. I have not experienced "winter" since 2009. I have not missed it. Nearly 50 years of cutting firewood, hauling ashes, shoveling snow, dealing with frozen waterers in the pastures, calving in the middle of an ice storm etc. etc. finally got me to the "ENOUGH!!" point. This is about as wintery as I want anymore.

We've been the last two days trying to get cattle sorted and brought home from as far as 16 miles they drifted from their pastures.
So far the death loss appears to be small (but it still hits the pocketbook pretty hard).
The neighbors yearling probably shrunk 100 lbs, and as they were ready to go to market that adds up to quite a set back for them.
Some of the folks were out of electricity but think they got most of it back yesterday evening. Phones are still out, and there's a lengthy stretch of county road that hasn't been opened, so the kids living there aren't going to have to worry about school for another day anyway..
Now it sounds like there may be another goround in the forecast towards the end of the week..
Good news is there's a lot of moisture. There were places trailing cattel back yesterday that the water was standing , and the cattle were sinking in up to their hocks and even in just the "muddy" spots hoof prints weren't turning up any dry ground.
Oh Mr. Gore what was that you were telling us about the planet warming?

Well Don I hope you don't get hit to hard, I know with the lack of rain and the price of hay things are tight. Right now they are forcasting rain for us on Friday and Saturday.

Harry thanks, it's looking like we'll get hit again in a few days. How bad it's hard to tell right now.
This is going to be hard on most of us , the shrink will take a few weeks to recover, if the weather stays nice, and I don't even want to think about the pneumonia problems.
I think as soon as I get everything sort of bunched and accounted for I'm going to get them moved towards the house.

Danny I put up just about enough to get the cows thru, if it doesn't get really rough.
Have arrangements for 3 loads of 3x4's to be delivered at the end of the month (when the guy gets back from his cape buffalo hunt  who says farmers and ranchers don't like to hunt  ) So I think we should be in pretty fair shape.
This is sort of like a spring blizzard the green grass coming out from under the snow banks as they melt. :o :D
I heard a report this morning that indicates the cowmen in and around the Black Hills took one heck of a hit and the loss of cattle and other livestock is going to be measured in the billions.
Prayers out to our breatherin in that part of the world.

On our way back to Texas from Oregon, my son drove across I-80; then called me Friday morning and said, "Dad... DON'T Come this way!" Took him many more hours of driving than usual. I went down thru Moab, and still hit snow in Dove Creek, CO! Nothing stuck, and was just a snow shower, but when I get the camera outta the truck, I'll post a picture. Like nothing I ever saw before. Headed back to Seattle on Thursday, & then back to Texas again. Glad to hear y'all made it thru ok.

Jnyork, did you get a late start for AZ this year? Hopefully it'll be a while afore this hits for the winter.
