Sure Blessed to Live Where we Do
Got up to 11 degrees Celsius here today, and we have been steady between 6 and 9 since before Christmas. The odd night it was frosty. Wife was wearing flip flops out and about today. I tease her all the time, since she bought snow pants almost two years ago we have not had more than an inch of snow since!

Re: Sure Blessed to Live Where we Do
I've always wanted to explore the wilderness on the QCI.
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Re: Sure Blessed to Live Where we Do
Here is an abandoned gold mine, we visited it near the end of October, 2012. Poor Stephi stepped in some awful goop hole and lost her shoes. We decided to go exploring after Church, so she was not dressed very practical! Only a few days later we had a 7.8 earthquake, I wonder if the mine is even still there.

Notice the dudes in hats on the stern of the ship? We have a constantly growing Mennonite colony, who moved here from Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Pretty long way to travel!

Couple of pictures taken Summer of 2011. We were getting some logs organized in the water.

Not on QCI, but we saw this Kermode bear on our trip to the mainland last year.

A bird in the hand..... Baby kildeer that I caught on the beach. You have to drive VERY carefully in late May-early June, to avoid squishing them.

One of the big off highway logging trucks. Canadian built Mack CL-350, they only made 29 of them.

Sometimes the trucks crash, most of the time nobody gets hurt. They drove this one home a few hours later, it was hauling logs the next day.

Re: Sure Blessed to Live Where we Do
I used to, and I grew up in a logging camp and spent the first 28 years of my life there. No more though, too much BS in the industry, and the guy with the brownest nose gets to the top. Totally changed from when I was younger. I work in a fish plant now. But it sure is a great place to live, even though food and gas are quite pricey.ollogger wrote:Looks like a great place to enjoy life!!!!!
