Lead pistol bullets

Post by gcs »

Anyone have a preference on bought cast bullets for a 38 special? 158 gr.? Ammo situation being what it is I'm looking for options. Have a bucket full of brass, have primers, powder, press, just need the bullets. Probably a SWC or flat point, ... all opinions appreciated. Thanks.

I recommend beartoothbullets.com

I've tried others and Marshall's are the best that I've found. I like to give cast bullets the hammer test, a whack or two with a 2# drilling hammer, the bullet on concrete.

They don't crumble, and they don't deform in bone either.

My cast lead bullet shooting started with Beartooth bullets. Along with a good product and good service, I liked the fact that I could order bullets in different diameters per caliber (I was mostly purchasing .44 cal bullets and Beartooth has them from .429"-.432"). When I'm looking for a bullet and don't have a mold for that bullet, I'll go with Beartooth...

I'm in the same situation. I've used Laser-Cast and Hunter Supply, but I found Hunter Supply to have tighter QC.

I have shot many thousands of Lasercast in several calibers, always pleased with the performance, never a problem. Good outfit to deal with as well.

I have used Cast Performance in my .480, and they have never let me down.

If you are looking for a soft cast bullet, you might consider Bearcreek Supply out of California. He makes a soft cast, moly lubed projectile that obturates easily at moderate .38 Special pressures. His prices are very reasonable too. Steve 209 874-4322. He is my go to supplier for all soft cast lead projectiles. 1886.
