What commercial am is ok with garrand?
Are there loads you don't have to worry about when used with the garrand?

Federal actually makes one specifically 'for' the Garand I believe.

The Korean PS and KA are surplus military cartridges. The PS is SUPPOSEDLY non-corrosive, although there are a number of threads floating on the Internet that disagree. The KA is generally regarded as corrosive.
Feeding your M1 isn't hard. American Eagle, Winchester White Box, or Remington-UMC .30-06 is plentiful, and loaded to M2 Ball specs.
The PMC Target .30-06 FMJ is also approved for the M1. As for poorly made cases, I haven't found any problems with them as far as structural integrity goes. Some batches are perhaps a little better. Federal, on the other hand, has soft brass that is a problem reloading.
Found the above on a quick search. Thanks

I have always heard that you should not use bullets heavier than 150 grain due to possible damage to the operating rod.

Seems they have bleed screws for the gas chamber that increase the volume of the chamber and reduce most factory ammo to safe specs, no matter the weight of the bullet. Didn't realize this till I just started looking. Garrand Gear has the screws and the testing data. Fascinating.

I have a Schuster's plug in one of mine, and haven't broken an op-rod yet... (of course I haven't broken one on any of my others, either ).
Before shooting a new batch/brand/load I open it up and shoot some, gradually closing the screw (more gas into cylinder/piston) until the action cycles, then a half-turn more.

Adjustable gas plug is the way to go if you're not loading specifically for the Garand.

My Garand shoots Military surplus and handloads only. I've read that Federal makes a "Garand" load for 30-06, but I've not seen any. With the research I've done in the last year, I definitely would not shoot any modern commercial ammo in my Garand as I don't use an adjustable, Schuster plug. The last 30-06 surplus ammo I bought was from CMP and I paid $99.00 for 200 rounds of Greek HXP in a surplus ammo can (up to $118.00 now).
