I fell into one in .357mag(20" octogon barrel) awhile ago and it is outstanding. I am on the lookout for another. Jim.

I think the EMF is a little better. Up until about the mid 90's InterArms was the only importer of the Rossi 92 rifles but they are no longer in business. Currently, there are three importers of the Rossi 92 guns. EMF's Hartford, LSI's Puma, and (really limited availability)Navy Arms' 1892). LSI was the first have the ugly non- historically correct bolt mounted safety. Up until June 06 the EMF didn’t have it. Now they both do.
I like the EMF version because it has the better semi-buckhorn and over-sized brass bead sites. The wood is not walnut but it looks like walnut and with the current prices the EMF costa little less than LSI. The sights alone are $70 parts and labor so that makes the EMF the best value of the three rossi 92's.

i got one of the navy arms a number of years ago
and i judge all the new 92's i look at by it if they come close i get
it if not i just pass as most of the rossi's i have seen have
been somewhat spotty.
when you get a good one they are outstanding and accurate
if not they still work but are not as accurate nor dependable.

Jarhead,

I have an EMF in 45 colt with a 24 inch octagon barrel. I like it alot, it's accurate and fun to shoot. I was shooting 300 grain Cast Performance bullets over 21 grains of 4227 this last weekend and it was just plain fun. I wish I had another one. :D

Just curious my friend :? ...don't plan on buying another... :) for a while anyway. The last Model 71 I picked up cost me a pretty penny! However, a 45LC would be a fun shooter....yea, I need counseling...I'm addicted to guns.

Hi Don,
The EMF is made by Rossi and they have never offered one in 38-40. Several years ago I ask about this and was told, no problem if I could take 500 of them.

So, what I do instead is reline a 44 or 45 to 38-40. I have a stainless 20" oct in the works now.

NKJ, is there any internal differences, or is it just the sites and possibly the furniture?

Thanks Steve, sounds interesting.
:?: But now you got me thinkin and this is when it could get dangerous. How does the final price compare for a relined 44wcf as to one of the 73 copies in 38wcf?

Pretty much like the folks that import the Uberti rifles they all can be a little different on the outside but they are the same inside.

The reline is a straight forward no brainer but the action will need to be retimed for the 38WCF. Sometimes that requires some parts.

As to how it compares to the Uberti. First of course you have a much stronger action and the cost even for the stainless oct converted with my action work is still less than the Uberti.
