That is stunning. I always thought the .480 should be a great handgun caliber. Don't know why it didn't catch on. It would be a low-pressure way to deliver 405+gr bullets with wide meplats. Maybe about 475 gr would be a sweet spot. Would love to shoot that.

Over the years I had a pair of SRH's in 480 . With my jacketed handloads they "could" be a little rough sometimes . But with cast bullets pushed with AA1680 the gun was a dream !
Wish I still had one with a Leupold 2x on top !

Ranch Dog made a mold for the 480 Ruger cartridge albeit to be shot in the Puma 92 that was chambered for the 480 . I suspect that mold would work rather nicely in a revolver as well .

Ah, friend Jack Huntington. The cylinder is probably line bored through the frame. Jack has made many great single actions in .475 and .500 calibers.

Very nice. I have a SRH in .480, and a 92 in the same caliber, and they are great shooters. That Vaquero looks like it would be nice with the lower end loads.

I have had Jack do a couple of projects. I was very happy with both. Nice guy too. 1886.

Come to think of it, Jack guided me to my first antelope kill. He took his with a .475 Single Action. Testing his own work as I recall.
