Very cool Stretch,
My first assignment was the #2045th comm. group
Andrews AFB
Small world, eh?

You got there after we moved Tech Control down
to the end of the building. Before that, I think we were
just a couple of doors away from the generators - between
them and the VIP shop.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 18 months there - and my
2 years on Okinawa.

Interesting, I was assigned to the 'Electric Strawberry' at Cu Chi, however, I wasn't there a full tour. I arrived on 9-12-68 but 6-2-69 turned out to be a very bad day and it led to my trip to Madigan Hospital for the next 7 months.

Missed this thread since I was at a machine gun shoot.

For those of you who fought, and for those of you who stood ready to fight during the peacetime and during the Cold War, Your service is greatly appreciated.

Especially for you guys who served in the Vietnam era, you may not have said much when you came back, but I truly believe that you are the ones who pushed the change in attitudes toward soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen today. In case someone neglected to tell you back then, welcome home.

Thanks guys.

USN '69-'73 Aviation Electronics Technician on the RA-5C Vigilante. The biggest, baddest machine ever launched and recovered from a carrier. And they went unarmed and unafraid over North Vietnam AFTER the hornets nest was kicked.

I appreciate everyone's service, but those who went to 'Nam deserve a special place in heaven. And as I always tell them "Welcome Home!"

Also, thanks to my Dad, who served in the Pacific as a Signalman on the light cruiser Flint. We always joke about the Navy finding the worst possible job for each sailor. He is red/green colorblind and had to read the signal flags by shades of grey. His real qualification was sending and receiving Morse on the light, as he was a radio hobbyist before the war and was faster and more accurate than any of the PO's in his section when he was just a striker.
