The things you see on the 'net

Post by jnyork »

On another board, now up to two pages and counting, a serious argument over which is best for bad times, a bow and arrow or a 10-22. Not joking here, really happening.

You should see the disussion on how to take care of roving packs of pit bulls in a EOTWAWKI on a survival forumn, think it went 20+ pages. The other one that goes bad is the 22LR for bad times weapon
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

That would likely be ONE of the many reasons that I stopped visiting Survival Boards!

Obviously the bow and arrow is better!
How could you even think of anything but the bow!!!!
I cannot believe anyone would even think of the 10-22.
You cannot kill vampires with a 10-22 because you can no longer by silver rim fire ammunition.

LOL

Let's talk about the big issues - like the 9422 verses 39A

Silver is for werewolves. Wood is for vampires; unless you watch the modern vampire tv shows/movies, then who knows.

LOL ---- neither one can be considered an unlimited source of ammo unless you are very careful with your arrows --- (or if you also have 10k .22's --- in a survival situation, i imagine there wouldnt be much plinking going on

even still, i lose a couple of arrows a year --- If i started out with , say, 100 though, i would likely have a lifetime supply

As for me, rather than a Winchester 9422 or Marlin 39, ---- I'll take a brace of Henry's for me and the rest of my family for roughly the same initial investment

Would a "pass through" shot with wooden arrows work? I can understand that a wooden stake, aka arrow, would kill a vampire, but if it don't stay in the vamp's body, will it still be effective? Mebbe a low velocity arrow that only penetrates 9.75"?

The Derp on some of the forums I've looked at has been at astronomical levels.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

I want to try that slingshot with the whisker biscuit on it for using it with arrows. Somehow, I just cannot see any evidence that werewolves or vampires are any threat to us. The slingshot toy might just be a great way to get a bunny this Winter since I live in town and have some bunnies that eat PillHer's flowers. If I let the bunnies eat all the landscaping that PillHer put in, it might be the End Of The World As I Know It.

Zombies... They're everywhere.

As to whether an arrow of any configuration or a 30-55gr .22in bullet might be most effective, two words...

SHOT PLACEMENT.

Arrow - Just below the sternum.

Bullet - In an eye, on a vector toward the center of the cranium.

 :)

The Zombies are everywhere, and they are attached to smart phones (stupid phones, really, because they make you stupid). All you have to do is shoot them in the phone.

And here was me thinking you were all good Christian folk, David slew Goliath with a sling and a rock.
Even a heathen atheist like me knows that the sling is the ultimate weapon for bad times

What are you guys talking about! Forget the bow, 22 or the sling. Fists and teeth are the way to go ..... always handy and ready, you can't misplace them in the dark, no permit required and very quiet. 8)

This thread turned a bit --

Not exactly n topic --- but i do love to shoot my bow every now and then ---- i have been threatening to procure a sweet pellet rifle for a long time , --- but our own RJohns94 spoiled me with pics of his Weirhauch .25  ----- and once i read the reviews, i cant just buy an off the shelf pellet rifle at BAssPro or Cabelas for $200 or so now -- I have to have one of those "Big Dogs"

------ problem is , everytime that much mad money finds its way into my grasp, -- i always come across a centerfire or rimfire something or other that takes precedence over my hot rod airgun project :? (I recently posted about a Colt i had to have)

--- Therein lies the beauty of the bow --- I already have it -- its therapeutic to shoot, -- gives me mild exercise, and is relaxing ----the projectiles aren't unlimited, but as long as i pick a different aiming point frequently, i dont waste too many arrows

Plus , i can shoot in my backyard ! :P --- with little bit of care that is
