Rossi 92 feeding problem, lifter related...FIXED!

Post by cpy911 »

Hi,
I have an 80's vintage Rossi 92 from my childhood that I am using a lot more lately...cuz it is fun to shoot cast lead in it. Anyhow, a latent feeding problem that has bugged me means it must be time to fix it.

The symptom is the following picture, where a shell jams up against another one and the lifter is no where in the picture.

Part of the problem is often the shell never gets kicked properly onto the lifter, here is action ALL the way opened and the shell is still in the tube and not on the lifter. If I use a screwdriver to push the lifter down a little, the shell pops into place. My guess is sometimes the lifter rises up and the shell sneaks under the lifter and I am jammed up good.

Here is a video of my problem:

My solution may be to smooth out the front leading edge of the lifter so the cartridge rim does not get hung up. Before I do so, wanted to ask if anyone knew about this....what the heck is going on?

Looks to me like your cartridge stop there on the left cart guide is not working. It may be because the spring is installed incorrectly.

cpy911,

My first thought is that you have a problem with your CARTRIDGE STOP:

Problem fixed! The cartridge stop guide spring was not installed correctly. There was no tension on it. Once installed correctly (putting it behind the "claw") it works. I installed a lower pressure spring on the ejector and she runs pretty smooth now.

A video...

Thank you! You guys are the best! Now to enjoy my Rossi!
