Washing Machine inner tubs work really good too... and the ceramic coating prevents rust...

That would work.
Would you be better off cutting the center out of the top rim so that the pot sits down in the rim, closer to the fire.
You'd get more heat and also a lower center of gravity for what potentially could be a very heavy pot.

Or you could just flip that top rim over so the offset side is face down putting it closer to the fire and bottom rim. It would also use part of the rim as a shield from high winds blowing the heat away from the pot. And give you your desired lower center of gravity. It would reduce the size of your fire box though.
