Sorry to hear the sad news.

Hope this helps a little...

I Haven’t Left You – (A Dog’s Tale)

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I’ll have so many things to show you,
there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...
then come home to be with me.

I understand your loss, God bless. Sometimes losing a "pet" can be more difficult than a human friend...

I'm sorry for your loss. We are going through the "end" right now with our little dog of 12+ years. It is no fun for sure, as they do become part of the family...

Losing your dog, who is a companion and loyal friend, is really tough. I hope you can find another soon, not to replace but to love again.

Thanks for your thoughts guys...
He slowed down quite a bit over the last year..
I was told he had cancer and was bleeding internally...
He never whined, or showed signs of pain....
He was a perfect family dog.... very obedient, my best friend...
Loved by everyone in the neighborhood.....
He will be missed for a very long time...

That's a bad thing about dogs; they tend to have shorter life-spans than we do. We've had to say "goodbye" to several over the years. Hang in there, the pain will eventually lessen.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. As I sit here typing this I look around the computer desk at my three companions that have been with me thru thick and thin for the last 8 years and dread the day I lose one of them.

I lost both of my Llewellin Setters in one year. I still feel their breath some nights.

Sorry for your loss but I can imagine the priceless days and moments you must've shared. You were/are blessed.

We were looking at the Cedar Ridge Kennels web site last night,
and saw pics of his dad and mom and the rest of his family tree...
Getting that itch to get another one...but not for a while....
Thanks for all the posts guys!
