I heartily AGREE...! Thanks so much for showing us the fun of something many of us are unable to do for lack of a place, lack of a great dog like that, or just lack of the ability to raise and train such a dog.

Oh... So sorry to hear this news Nath...

She will live on though -- in the annals of this website, in our collective memories -- and in your heart & mind.

I hope the passage below helps a little my friend.

Old No7

I Haven’t Left You – (A Dog’s Tale)

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God Bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I’ll have so many things to show you,
there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...
then come home to be with me.

I'm glad Jess is doing well. Pups can be traumatised fairly easily at their start.

You, OTOH, are a stalwart bloke, and did what was Right and Proper. Good on yer. It's what a Man has to do.

Spent two days trying to reply , words are tough for me to express the sense of loss that I felt reading your post. I could multi-quote all the replies , as they are all well said.
I had hoped that another dog would come into your life while sweet Tia was still there . I believe that , although short , Tia stayed around long enough to help Jess get her (his ? ) paws head down the wonderful trail that Tia was blessed to share with you Nath . I will always remember all the photos and videos of Tia you shared with us , as I look forward to your future sharing with Jess . :)
RIP Tia

Nath,

I log onto Leverguns every day pretty much. When I do, if I see a thread posted by you I always click on it. I have so enjoyed your adventures and photos of that lovely lady Tia.

It took me a bit to respond to this thread. Just about a month ago I lost my friend, a Fox Terrier, a friend of some 15 years. He looked in many ways like your Tia.

My little Cooper didn't suffer either, but can we say the same for us? :)

Life goes on I guess. They sure can leave a hole though.

I have been away for a while, and just saw this. My condolences. You did the right thing, and Tia will see you again someday. Grieving is nothing to be ashamed of, and a companion like Tia deserves to be grieved over. She will be remembered for a long time due to the many folks on here who read of her exploits.

Hi Nath. Sorry to hear this. I have really enjoyed your posts of this great little dog. I have felt the loss of a couple of dogs that were very dear to me. Your decision, as hard as it may have been, seems the best to me. There is a true sadness in seeing a dog allowed to live a miserable life because it's loving master mistakenly feels unable to end the suffering of a loyal friend. Well done. Remember the great moments you shared together. Pop.

Thank you gents, all your comments have really helped.
I can feel it easing, the deed is having less effect on me over the drive to do the right thing for her.
I am appreciating she is at peace now after a great life.

I knew I had a special dog at 9 months old. We visited the coast and she loved the sea.
I would throw a training dummy into the surf so she could not see it, however she would locate the dummy by scent first and then take on the surf to retrieve the dummy!
