2016 Henry .223, .243, .308 Levergun

Just back from the range with four loads (three bullet weights).
31 degrees, total greyout, hazy.
The two best 100-yard 3-shot groups were a 150 at 7/16 of an inch & 1 inch even with a 178.

Leupold scope on it.
The gun can shoot.

Just back from the range...

Does it cycle smoothly, say as nicely as a well used Marlin? How's the trigger? Is there enough drop in the stock it would work with open sights, or is this one of those "scope only" stock configurations?

The mainspring was a little strong on this sample, which means it takes a little more effort to start the action cycling.
That's under discussion at Henry & will probably be lightened a bit, depending on how far they can take it without compromising ignition.
Once past the first 3/4 inch or so of bolt travel, getting the hammer cocked & the bolt off it, very smooth.

Clean trigger, 6 pounds.
That may go lower.

Bearing in mind that this is early, right now no sights.
Stock is angled for glass.
Discussions on-going at Henry about the possibility of an iron-sighted version, which would involve a different stock angle.
The emphasis is on long-range accuracy & that means a scope, at least starting out.

Henry's re-doing their photos of the rifle, supposed to be re-sending one shortly, time-frame unknown.

And, in case you get looking for the gun, word this morning is that its name has reverted back to The Henry Long Range Lever-Action Rifle.

Wow, that looks more sawn off than I guessed it would. Nice, slender taper, though. I do hope they offer a proper 24" barrel for it.

HHmMmm , stick a front sight on it and drill it for a Lyman / Williams style receiver sight ....

That's most likely the barrel length they'll stick with.
It handles quite well as it sits.
A sighted version with a different stock angle may be on the horizon.
