It's been a rough winter!
Went to the ER Nov. 15th with what turned out to be a nasty case of pneumonia. That turned into acute respiratory distress syndrome. While there, they found several bleeding ulcers in my stomach. I was in an induced coma for almost a month and then two more months recovering.
I've been told that it was touch and go for several weeks to the point that my family was told to be prepared that I may not make it.
Just came home yesterday and am feeling much better. I had to learn how to walk again but every day it gets easier. Should be able to lose the cane in a couple more weeks.
The Docs were very concerned about my lungs, kidneys and liver. The only long term issues I may have will be with the liver, and that's due to a few years of heavy boozing.
I'm done with the booze and stress of the corporate world ( I don't care how much they offer me this time) and plan on being a happy self employed contractor again. The big $ just isn't worth it.
I owe a huge thank you to the people at the Cleveland Clinic, an amazing place that really saved my sorry butt!
So you guys take care of yourselves and if you aren't feeling well don't ignore it like I did and go the darned doctor!!

Good grief Jason! No wonder we hadn't hear from you in a while. Yep, this is a nice opportunity to ease back into the world with some quality reloading time.

Re: It's been a rough winter!
Thanks Guys!!
It was pretty rough and I'm still pretty weak compared to where I started. i'm down amost 60 pounds and a lot of muscle. Climbing the stairs is a bit of a challenge but I'm improving. Couldn't do that a month ago.
The only good part is that I was heavily sedated for the nastiest part. The trach tube was the worst. constantly fighting the ventilator for air. The whole thing really sucked!
Be careful out there!

Sounds like you might have found a more enjoyable way to spend the winter months, given a choice.
Glad to hear you're recovering, Jason.

That helped with the recovery for sure but I think it's part of what got me in trouble in the first
place. I always put off going to the doctor until it was serious. Well that philosophy almost
did me in.
Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers everyone.
I'll behave for now on.

I better heed this as I am the same. I don't even have a doctor. The only time I go is if I need something stitched up. I'm getting older and have to change my ways though.
Thanks for the heads up.
Again, glad you're on the mend. Lot's of "tough points", my friend.

This "Old" pelosi sucks....I'm into my usual winter crud about 5 weeks. It don't go away like it used to. I wish they had OTC Albuterol.I better heed this as I am the same. I was hitting the Albuterol and Qvar pretty hard thinking it was asthma. Got to the point I couldn't
climb the stairs w/o a break. Had to go back over the weekend for a minor tune up. Small GI bleed.
Thank Heaven for health ins. Bills are up over $600,000 because of me being a dope. Our portion is around $10k.

We make way too much for Obummer Care. I think I'd rather pay the $10k than some Gov't yahoo telling me where to go and what to do.BlaineG wrote:"Affordable" Care Act my butt...
