I live in Middle Tennessee and I felt it. I was sitting at my desk at work and my chair started shaking. I thought I was having some kind of fit :lol:

I was wondering what that was all about...

I thought the cats were fighting under the bed again... but there were no yowls. :?:

Interesting.

But then, I've been through so many Anchorage minor quakes that stuf like that barely registers with me.

Yes we felt it. It felt like the entire house was being kicked off it's foundation. Both of us sat up in bed, going from sleep to awake in a heart beat, and said "what the hell was that"? I wasn't sure what to do, I almost grabbed a pistol thinking it was somebody kicking in the front door.

I been quaked ................. WOW!!!! And I didn't have to go to California to do it.

Joe, maybe it's the back-lash from all that wind you had at the range recently. Darned Illinois is one state you don't tie in with earthquakes and such. What's next pray tell?

All that rain in MO and TN has started them sliding south...

Earthquakes are interesting experiences!

Hit here too. Something fell over and the dogs went Nuts! I jumped out of bed and looked out the windows. Figured it was the neighbor's cat on the porch
again.

Woke me up at 4:37 this morning. I'm about 75mi south of the epicenter. Hobie, hope it slides us far enough south to be in Ky or Tn. At least we could get carry permits then!

We just had an aftershock hit at 10:12 here in Springfield. My chair started wobbling around and the computer monitor was shacking too.
That was weird, and I'm sober ............

Here's the article on FOX news about it:

I was living in the San Francisco area (San Mateo to be exact) during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. That was the 7.1 World Series earthquake. Now that one got my attention. This earthquake here today definetly has everyone in my little corner of Indiana talking. I know the California folks are laughing at us, though.
Heck 5.4 I dont even roll over in bed until its more then a 6.0 magnitude.

That describes how I feel about tornadoes, I don't get too worried until the roof starts shaking. The California natives I used to work with all seemed pretty nonchalant about earthquakes but absolutely horrified at the thought of tornadoes.

All you boys better move, 'cause Illinois is going to fall off into Lake Michigan. The faults under Chicago are as big & deep as the San Andreas.

Just think of the possibilities... :D

Shake Rattle & Roll
As Performed by Bill Haley and His Comets
Written by Charles Calhoun

Get out from that kitchen
and rattle those pots and pans,
Get out from that kitchen
and rattle those pots and pans.
Well, roll my breakfast,
'cause I'm a hungry man.

I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll;
Well you never do nothin'
to save your doggone soul.

Wearin' those dresses,
your hair done up so right
Wearin' those dresses,
your hair done up so right;
You look so warm,
but your heart is cold as ice.

I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
Well you never do nothin'
to save your doggone soul.

I'm like a one-eyed cat,
peepin' in a sea-food store,
I'm like a one-eyed cat,
peepin' in a sea-food store;
I can look at you,
till you don't love me no more.

I believe you're doin' me wrong
and now I know,
I believe you're doin' me wrong
and now I know;
The more I work,
the faster my money goes.

I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,
I said Shake rattle and roll,

Well you never do nothin'
to save your doggone soul.
Shake rattle and rolllllllllllllllllllll

you can go ahead and freak out about a little tremor while we freak out about a little rain.

The wierdest thing about the last quake was watching the water slosh out of the swimming pool. We must be on a plate that shifted, the water stood still, and spilled out of the moving (in ground) pool.

I slept through the first one. Then my co-workers panicked during the aftershock about six hours later. I barely noticed it. I mistook it for jet engines, actually. Though if you've got jets flying low enough to feel the engines rumbling while you're on the ground on the street where I work, something's about to hit a building.

Let's see. The first plague was tornadoes, then floods, then Chicago politicians-- er, locusts, and now earthquakes.

Yep. Election time in Illinois is right around the corner.
