Prayer request - update

Post by Ysabel Kid »

My wife and I were with our son, Y2K, down at Wofford College today for a summer orientation event (he starts there this fall). As we were heading to the event my wife received a text that her father had been rushed to the hospital by ambulance. His health has been declining rapidly, and he has fallen several times in the last few weeks. He has all but stopped eating. They got him stabilized, but we are fearing the worst. My FIL in a great guy, Korean War veteran, hard worker and raised a nice family. His first wife, my wife's Mom, passed away from cancer almost 30 years ago. His life has not been the easiest, but you never hear him complain. If you could spare a prayer or two, I'd appreciate it greatly.

His name is Al Otte.

Thanks,

YK

UPDATE: Not good news. It appears that my FIL has cancer throughout his organs. They did a broncoscopy on his lungs, and found a golf ball size tumor. Other suspicious areas on his kidneys, liver and pancreas. He is still in the hospital and my wife is there, along with his other children. We all appreciate very much your prayers. Please keep them coming.

Prayers still up.....the destination may not be the one hoped for, but the journey can still be made as pleasant and spiritually fulfilling as possible.

Cancer survivor here. I do not know the extent of the cancer in Al's body, but a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. A lot of personal prayer, and a positive attitude, knowing God only wants the best for us is essential in battling this disease. I'm praying Al is as successful in his battle as I was in mine.

Thanks fellas.

Sorry I haven't been around much; it's been a sh!tty week, plain and simple. Started with the situation with my FIL, then the all-too-predictable gun-control mania of the left after the Orlando massacre, blaming us once again for the actions of a terrorist Muslim lunatic. Then I had to let a bunch of good people at work know that the company was relocating their jobs and they would be losing them. Finally today my daughter had to go into the dentist to have five (yes, 5!) teeth extracted. She's a trooper though.

My FIL is home now, and my wife flew home yesterday. They arranged hospice care, as well as a nurse to spend the nights at the house. The doctors are giving up 6 months, or less. It will be a lot less if he doesn't eat and regain some strength. Thank you all for your prayers. Again, I'm sorry I've been absent so much.
