what I'm watching

Post by Grizz »

interested in all things Otzi and metal, I watched this video on reproducing his copper axe:

interesting molding technique, doesn't seem like the two forms are indexed. probably the traditional wood box would be just as good.

there are is a good collection of other Otzi memoribilia in this page, but my attention followed this two-part documentary:

and . . .

I get it. You have to see it to understand it!

I plan to forge a similar tool from steel. Kind of an adze plus hatchet tool. Very super cool.

Anyone else get big smiles watching prehistory become contemporary?

When I was studying and participating in Traditional Archery I subscribed to a couple of magazines on the subject. One of them ran a multi issue article on Otzi at the time. IIRC there was a conflict at the time as to where Otzi was. I think it turned out he was in Italy in the Alps. Several countries were fighting as where he was.

They knew where Otzi was, just weren't exactly sure where the border was. He was just a few yards inside Italy.

willing to bet that Otzi in no way considered that in 5000 years he would have a web site and large group of followers. the last followers he had killed him.

does that give us pause as to where or how we might exist in 5000 years? Hmmm?
