An Arizona Elk hunt Bonus !

Post by Lefty Dude »

My Son-In-Law and his Father.
Hunting Elk between Williams, AZ & Flagstaff, North of I-40 and South of the Grand Canyon.
Shot and tagged yesterday.
When we Hunt in the High country we always have a Mt. Lion and a Bear tag in the party of Hunters.
This big one will make a nice rug.

Reckon that made for a good day. My daughter used to hunt that area several years ago before her husband died.

All we need to do here is buy a Lion Tag.
Coyote's and Mt Lion kill a lot of Elk & Deer during the calfing season here.

Looks like you are asking Him how big it was!
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Supposed to be excellent table fare, too. Just be sure to cook to 160 or more. There was a case of trichinosis in Idaho a few years back among buddies who shared cougar jerky that didn't get hot enough.

Well the Critter is at the taxidermy, all skinned and will be off to the tannery soon. A rug will be the final outcome. It will take approx. 18 mo. for the return to my SIL.

The Cat was at a Water Hole at 2:00 in the Afternoon. She was shot at about 35 yards, with a 180 gr. 30-06 from a Remington model 700. A one shot kill, just below the left front shoulder. Blew out the heart, and a clean exit on the right side. The female Lion was full adult size and approx. two years old.
