Henry 327 Mags from Lipsey's

Post by yooper2 »

Looks like 2 brass frames and 2 steel frames. This should make a lot of folks happy but they are going to be kinda heavy for a .32 levergun.

Think I'm going to stick with the old cartridges for the time being.

Eric

Edit: I was looking at the brass frame with octagon barrel, the steel carbine is quite a bit lighter.

Now that's interesting. I really like the .327 and .32 H&R, looks like I'm going to have to buy my first Henry!

That 16.5" Steel carbine looks interesting, and only about 6.5 lbs....I'd prolly get it in .357, tho)

I agree with Blaine, but I already have a Winchester 1892 in .357.

I have been looking for a reason to buy a Henry and this would be it.
This is going towards the top of the list.

Yes all centerfires are made in Rice Lake. I want a Henry made in WI, so this would be it. :D Nothing else they have appeals to me for the price, except a Long Ranger in 260 Rem.

PillHer has an SP101 in .327 Federal. That looks like a perfect companion to it. 115 grain cast flat point with a slow powder should be quite good for small game or woods walking.

It is the same as a .32-20 for all performance specifications, just in a straight wall case that is a little stronger and easier to load. I like it.

Question, didn't Marlin make a 32 H&R levergun before they went belly up (were bought out)?

Reckon I can pass on these Henrys. I have a Winchester 1892 24 inch 32wcf and a Rossi SRC 20 inch .357, so they ain't got anything I need.

Know what you mean, I've got a Win 94 that I've been loading down to about 32/20 levels for plinking/small game loads. MUCH more fun that fullhouse 30/30 loads, not to mention cheaper.

Yep. First only tube-loading levergun I ever saw. Very pricey now, IF you can even find one. Dunno if anyone ever modified one to fire the longer (and I think higher pressure) Fed round.

Yes, the Marlin can be modified to accept the .327.

I do know that during our testing out the .30-30 versions, the consensus was that the round barrel steel frame version was a fun gun to shoot offhand, but the octagon brass was a little better off the bench.

Since that little gun can't push a 150gr bullet @ 2000+fps, or don't start with a .4... unless I "win" one, one ain't comin' home with me...
