Retarded People With An Uzi

Post by Sixgun »

That's right....me...I'm the retarded one with a Model A Uzi......So....here's the story......I grab a few different samples of loads and go outside to chrono these loads. I shoot out of my homemade giant suppressor so no need for hearing protection. I set up the chronograph, chamber a round, pull the trigger, BANG! My right ear starts ringing....my "good" ear. I find the empty case and diagnose the problem. The cap that holds the barrel on was only screwed on by a couple of threads. Was not paying attention the last time I cleaned it. No problem, I finished what I was doing by firing another 20 rounds....Job done.

This is where it gets interesting.....I walk in the house holding my ear and show the wife the empty case. She says, "is the Uzi OK?" Oh well, been married 44 years. I go downstairs to the gunroom and take a picture and tell the story to my son, by instant messaging through my IPad as I gave him one of my UZI's last week and I wanted him to be sure of keeping the barrel on tight.

He gets the message and writes back, "Is the Uzi OK?

I feel so loved. :D -----6

Huh? I can't hear you!
That looks a bit like a 40 s&w case that fired from an early pistol caliber AR a buddy of mine has. Took a while to figure out how to spring it.

Somewhere I have 9mm that were shot from my G23, they feed from the mag and if the extractor grabs them the gun is reliable- but not accurate!

I'm glad YOU are ok... The Uzi too!

When it comes to a 9mm carbine, in my opinion, nothing comes close to an Uzi. They may not be as ergonomic as an MP-5 but here things eat everything and keep on going. In the manual, it is suggested for routine maintenance you clean under the extractor every 5,000 rounds. I paid no where near what these things are going lor as the Internet prices are way out of bounds.

The guns bolt is a huge chunk of steel with two springs on guides. Not much to go wrong. Look what the Israelis have to deal with over there....they need a gun that will last as they have an endless string of targets to shoot at......and rightfully so.---6

I think your wife is right: you should have broken the threads under the cap!
Since neither you nor the gun have not been hurt, it is really a funny story!

Take care of you,

Julien.

Thanks guys and Julien....it was meant to be funny.......life is short and I can't see any of it going to waste by being miserable. I'm already looking forward to next year and hopefully you and Liu can make it back to the states. I'm thinking of coming up a few days early just to get rid of a couple of thousand rounds of ammo and I'll need a few helpers to shoot this stuff off. Bring a pal or two from France ......party time in Ridgway, Pennsylvania! ----Jack

Thank you Six gun !

True, life is short. I am only 41, but I begin to realize that, every day worth to be lived, thanks to god!

Coming to Ridgway and shooting at will on silhouettes, as far as 850 yards (didn’t you noticed the buffalo at that distance?), is the kind of day you want to share with as many people as possible.
Thank you so much for your proposal! For my part I would like to bring French food, red wine, and certainly my old Winchester 94, 1907 vintage (that old one really deserve it).

It will be hard to come next year, because we have to go and visit Liu’s family in China. But I am working on it for the following year!

Julien.

Oh, aren't you a darling for picking out a pink set!

OK, on to business. I got me a redneck shootin' outfit next to the barn. I have this foam egg crate wrapped up in a piece of 4' cow/horse fence all enclosed with an old insulating pad from an old water heater. Then I have a very professional shooting bench that is nothing more than a few pieces of wood on top of an old wood stove. Then........I have my 2 million dollar spotting scope....a broken bushnell duct taped to a $3 tri pod.

Anyway, when you have about 6-10" of the barrel inside of this "silencer" you don't need hearing protection....unless of course, the round goes off without the action being completely closed.....but I am half Italian so I allowed to do stupid things. Get that fellow redneck?????? :D ------6

When your tastes in nice classic/antique firearms exceeds your financial balance, you have to cut corners somewhere.

seems more people are worried about the gun first and you second. :P
there are uzi out the yin yang, glad you didn't loose a eye or get hurt, and the gun is ok too. only takes a second to make a simple mistake. i have done my share of them and came out lucky in the end. we will chock that up as a learning example for the rest of us and move on.just don't get gun shy over it.

Uzi does it Six, - you might hurt that thing next time !

The Uzi fits my old school ish sensibilities, but I was considering either a 9 mil AR(Colt naturally, not the aftermarket boys) , or a new fangled Sig MPX - I have heard good things about it too

---- Probably not until after Christmas -- I spent my toy allotment on a Canadian centennial model 94 w/ 26" barrel and full mag tube this month -- wanted another shooter to take to Whittington soon
