Old guys computer probs.
Does anyone know how to "undelete" a file? I was trying to remove a little used entry in a bookmark file and I guess I hit the line just below the one I wanted to delete and removed 90% of my gun related bookmarks, mebbe 75 bookmarks. Yeah, I know 70 year old hands sometimes don't go exactly where you want them and the little arrow can be 1/8" off, but I did it. Is there anyway to get back these bookmarks? It was a whole file...

Not familiar with windows 10, look for 'recently deleted' or 'Trash can' maybe...?
Could do a system restore but again I'm not familiar with 10.
Try YouTube - betcha the info you need is there!

Re: Old guys computer probs.
Make a new file and title it. Delete it, then do a search for that title and that's where you will find the one you need back. Unless, of course, you know the exact name of the one you lost. You can search for that one. I've been on a Mac for years. I don't know exactly how to "do" Windows anymore.

You have to expand your selections until you see one called "trash", so they are not totally gone.
Select the ones you want, then move them back to the folder you chose.

The files should be in the "recycle bin", located on your laptop's "desktop" - the icon usually looks like a small trash basket.
If you "left click" on the icon, all the files you deleted should appear in a new window - then 75 times, one-by-one, "right click" on each file, then choose "restore".

OOPPSS on me! My comments were about lost E-mails - this is the right way for files/folders.
Sorry...

No help from me but it can be done. Cops can find anything you ever had on your computer, unless of course, if Hillary's people deleted it, it will never be found.---6

I guess I'll just take my 'puter to Abby and have her fix it (NCIS)...
I guess I left something out, my lost files were bookmarks on Google Chrome. The "recycle bin" icon just sends me to stuff deleted fron windows not my online stuff...

If you've still got the browser open you might be able to simply hit the "Undo" button. Should be under the "Edit" menu.
If you've closed the browser, maybe not.

Ask Google how you can find deleted bookmarks on Chrome.

If it's Gmail that you are using, the following is from the "Gmail Help Line"
Recover deleted emails in Gmail after 30 days
by Div. V 4/9/15
ADD A REPLY
Looking to recover an email that you accidentally deleted?
Emails that you have deleted stay in Trash for 30 days. If you delete a message by mistake and it’s been fewer than 30 days, you can recover that message.
Sign into Gmail
Click Trash from the list on the left side of Gmail
Locate the message in Trash
Check the box next to the sender's name
Choose Move to inbox
If more than 30 days have gone by, or if you chose to Empty Trash or use the Delete Forever button, then those messages are gone forever and cannot be recovered. We’re sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to hear! That’s just how the Trash label works.
If your emails were deleted because your account was compromised, you can ask us to investigate whether message recovery is possible. First, you must secure your account and then you can request to recover the deleted emails.
Best of luck.
Cheers Mark

Re: Old guys computer probs.
Thanks fellers, but I've not been able to find a remedy. Google offers chrome books stuff, does not recognize "how to find recycle bin Google Chrome" and "how to retrieve deleted files in Google Chrome". I guess I,m just gonna have to suck it up. I've got Leverguns.com so I'll be OK for a while.....

Re: Old guys computer probs.
Well an update. I read all the responses and tried several fixes, but all seemed to be just a bit off. I did a few Google searches and tried the suggestions/remedies listed but most all were either missing an important part or I was too stoopid to figger out the directions (I could never find a "trash can" or "recycle bin" for Google Chrome). I am using Google Chrome and I had imported my book marks from IE and Firefox to my "new" Chrome. My oops! occurred when I was using GC and all my imported bookmarks were deleted, which happened to be from Firefox. So using an old shooter's/reloader's logic I opened Firefox and saw all the bookmarks I had deleted from GC!. I re-imported the bookmarks from Firefox to GC and everything is working fine...
Thanks fer your help with all the hints, I really felt like a dinosaur trying to figger out how to work in cyberspace...

I'm glad you got it !
It's sad to have to turn to it, but it wudda been quicker, if you had asked some 13-year-old kid to look at it.
