I broke the head off a 36" breaker bar back when I worked in the weld shop. I was trying to take the nuts off the turret on an excavator. Of course I had a 10' cheater pipe on it at the time... Ended up cutting off most of those nuts with a torch.

I could make a similar chart:

"There's a raccoon in the garage...."
. . . . Single Six 22 WMR

"It tore open the 50-lb bag of sunflower seed...."
. . . . Redhawk 44 Mag

"...and chewed the wiring harness on your truck..."
. . . . Ithaca 10-gauge #4-buck shot

I grew up near a Family Who had a bunch of Boys and a huge farm tractor. They were trying to bust the wheel nuts loose on the rear wheels, had some big 3/4" sockets on the nuts they were jumping off the top of the tire on to the breaker bar and broke the socket. took it back to Sears and the salesman rolled his eyes and muttered "I don't even want to know". :D

At my last job I was helping another mechanic remove the turret/house from an older crane, my first. I was scratching my head looking at the turret nuts, 36 of them, and he laughed at me. He went to the tool room and got this contraption which consisted of a big steel "box" with a 1" drive sticking out the bottom and hoses to connect to a hydraulic pump/power supply. He hooked it up to the pump assy. and used some bars,in slots in the "box", to limit it's turn and removed all 36 nuts (IIRC 1 1/2") without breaking a sweat. I wish I could recall what it was called or who made it but that was over 20 years ago...

My Aunt had trouble with the chewed wiring on her Saab....The big shed/garage was rife with black snakes, too...I'll be she had to have her Saab towed on a flatbed half a dozen times 80 miles to the closest shop.

I've used many a manual nut splitter, and a fair number of hydraulic ones. I've seen truck mounted hydraulic jobs that would bust nuts on studs up to 3 inches. When a refinery is doing annual (well it used to be annual) maintenance there isn't time to mess around with a frozen nut. Hook up the splitter, fire up the hydraulic pump and in about 30 seconds the nut is split. Wack it with a big ole hammer and the nut falls off the stud. Move on to the next.
