Hatsan escort.
So I got it in my head that I need an alternative to my rimfires for night work!
It's getting more difficult to aim a rifle, especially on a windy night and raining!
So I thought a 3" auto shotgun maybe the answer so got a used but in excellent condition Hatsan escort with plastic wood look alike stock. I got some Fiocchi 3"#0 shells 52g and yep it works. About 50yd shot. Oh and by the way, that fox ate all my wild pheasants nearly and I been after it for nearly 9 months!
Turns out that with the stock shim fitted it fits like glove and wing shooting is easy with it.
Any way, thought I would show you.

Semi auto shotgun is the only type I've never owned, often been tempted though... maybe one in 20 gauge someday.
Well done getting that wiley old fox, the ones that do the most damage are often the hardest to get..

Great Job Nath!!, one thing the Turks know how to build is a semi auto shotgun. I went out on a limb last year and got a Tristar G2 Viper, 28 gauge. the little gun is stocked right and runs like a clock. Glad you got that one.

Those little 28's are so petite and pack a punch don't they.
The cyclic sensation of this escort is sweet, barely noticeable. I am quite sensitive to some actions and find them off putting but this is slick and fast.

Way to go friend. Glad you were able to outsmart Reynard. Happily you like the auto but I'm a fancier of pumps. Especially 16ga.

I like that one. I can't take a semi-auto through Canada to get to Alaska, so stuck with pumps.

I’ve had two of these Hatsan/Escorts, one 20g one 12g, both pump action. Despite the price tag both performed flawlessly. Got rid of them as they weren’t my cup of tea from an aesthetic point of view.
This is what I have now, an old Angelo Zoli 12g:

Re: Hatsan escort.
Sure you can! Semi autos aren't illegal in Canada. Some may be on the prohib list however, and "big" box mags may need to be pinned.

THANKS ! I will check that out! I would like to have a semi-auto version of the pump gun I take through Canada. While they may be legal in Canada for Canadian residents, are you sure they are legal to "import" into Canada by foreigners? My pump gun is a chicom parody of the Remington and well liked by the Customs guys...Tactical Lever wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 3:32 amSure you can! Semi autos aren't illegal in Canada. I put an AR stock on mine for convenience...

Anything that a Canadian can own would be able to be shipped through, except prohibited class guns that exist through "grandfathering" otherwise known as "delayed theft".Grizz wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 10:11 amTHANKS ! Just a few simple nonsensical rules apply. A semi-auto with a barrel at least 18.5" is generally non restricted, meaning travelling with it unloaded hanging in the back window of the truck is OK (just don't "store it" like that). A semi auto, with a barrel shorter than that made from a barrel from the factory that comes that long is generally restricted, and you can get a shotgun with an 8" barrel, and it is still just restricted. These have to be transported with a trigger lock and with gun case locked (unloaded) because of their super deadliness. They can be uncased only at an approved range, gunsmith, or dwelling. You also need an authorization to transport. Now if you cut that barrel down to 18.4" then it would be restricted, and if you cut it below 18" I believe that makes it go prohib..
Now if you are talking manually operated actions, you can get a factory made barrel in whatever length you want as long as the gun is not shorter than 26" (IIRC) and able to be shot in that condition like having a side folder that "locks out" the trigger or action. You can legally modify that barrel if longer, down to 18". Shorter I believe makes it restricted, but only if you cut it down. But the factory made pumps with 12" barrels are all non restricted.

Re: Hatsan escort.
thanks for this info.
questions to clarify
is shipped through the same as imported? the paperwork to get the gun into the country, both via boat and vehicle, means registering the firearm and acquiring a registration number for it, with a time limit for that certification. this is based on entering Canada twice with a firearm.
also, according to the paperwork, I am not carrying the firearm, I am transporting the firearm. this is a big deal to Canadian Customs. by, "shipped through" do you mean transporting?
when I am in Canada transporting my legal firearm I can use it if necessary to stop say a charging moose or bear or lion, something like that. I think.
thanks so much for the input. I'd like to have a self-loader if the nice officers of the state will permit it.
I talked at length with a high-level lawyer in the East concerning the details and specific meaning of words to be certain my flare gun is legal on my boat. There is wording that could land someone in prison if the wrong flare device is "imported". The GOTCHAs are in the details of the legal code and how it is chosen to be inforced.....

Not sure if shipped through would be the same as importing. I wouldn't think that the gun would need to be registered, unless it is a restricted class gun.Grizz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 10:27 am thanks for this info.

By shipped through, I did mean transporting.
You can use any means at your disposal to stop charging wildlife, and 2 legged predators. But if you use a restricted gun, then it might get complicated, when you have to start explaining how you unlocked 2 locks, and got the ammunition loaded while being in imminent danger. Camping in remote areas, it would be a lot more accepted that your non restricted gun, would be loaded and handy.

+1
The first shotgun I got for Y2K was a 20-gauge Hatsan Escort pump. Good gun!
