He gets my vote too, he has done excellent work for me, and my NKJ custom .357 Rossi Trapper is my favorite long gun for the woods.

Thanks guys.

Jim,
That reminds me of the conversation I've had a few times with folks wanting to become gunsmiths. My answer has always been,
"You can buy the books, buy the tools and go to the the schools. But, the reality is it is a series of expensive mistakes you hope to never repeat"

The rest of the story is, if you want to make a million dollars gunsmithing, start with 2 million and when you get down to a million quit. :)

Doug and his son in law stayed overnight with me a few years ago as they were weathered in on a small plane (2seater) trip. He’s a decent fellow and they sent my wife some nice stuff as a thank you. I know he does high end heirloom work but man is it nice!

I was not asked for a cheap gunsmith, just who I used. My follow up would also be, you get what you pay for.

That said, if I could get you to do my work, I am positive it would be top quality.

The old saying, "You get what you pay for" doesn't always hold water. I can name several great gunsmiths whose work is equal to or better than Turnbull's, and at much less cost to the customer. I'm not knocking Turnbull's work, as they've done excellent quality. But they're not the only show in town; just the most expensive show in town.
