Nosler .224 77grHPBT loads?
Normally I'd post something like this over at marlinowners.com, but got booted off when they changed their format and couldn't log back on.
Just picked up a box of Nosler .224 77grHPBT bullets and can't find load data, not even from the Nosler site.
Anybody here have load data for this bullet using 748 and CFE223 with cartridge overall length? TIA

Try the Hodgon website, they list all kinds of data for a lot of cartridges.
I developed a load for 223 with 77 SMK using IMR 4895. Im not overly fond of stick powders but it shot very well in my gun.

Thanks, Gunny, but I already tried the Nosler site and was unable to get to the load data for the 77grHPBT bullet. It isn't working for me!

Pretty sure AmmoGuide.com has it. I see "77 Nosler Winchester 748" for 2611 fps but my credit card changed so I have to re-subscrube (only $17 but I haven't got the new card yet) to get the data.
It is a good site and worth $17/year for sure.

No the exact bullet, but 75 A-max CFE 223 starting 22.2grs, max 26.5grs.........
WIN748, starting 22.4, max 25.5grs.
The 80gr A-max uses 1 grain 1 grain less for max load. Hope thus helps it from Hornady 9th Edition manual. Todd/3leg
Found Nosler book, for WIN748 using 77-80 bullets use 22-24 grains of it. Nothing for cfe223...

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Thanks for the 748 powder loads for the 77grainer, 3leggedturtle. Does it have OAL that you can list? The one I have is the cannelured version.

What kind of a rifle? .223 I assume. Makes a big difference in the rifle and corresponding throat your using.---6
Re: Nosler .224 77grHPBT loads?
Actually, these are going to be tried in a Mini 14 chambered in .223 with 1/9 twist and an AR chambered in .223 Wylde with 1/8 twist 5R rifling (18" Gunner profile Faxon match barrel).

Re: Nosler .224 77grHPBT loads?
Ok...personally, I would not waste good bullets in a mini 14....don't get me wrong here, I've had several and these guns are fighting machines.....they just will not come anywhere near a good AR...it's just the "nature of the beast."
You've got things pretty good in your Ar with the match barrel, proper twist and an excellent throat. As you know, the Wylde throat is nothing more than an opened up .223 throat. I've always liked the .556 NATO throats for seating the bullets out but you have to load one at a time.
I don't know what your purposes are for these guns but if they are for defense, just seat them as far out as possible so they will still feed or just use a manuals MOAL. Personally, for defense against people it's hard to beat the 69 gr Sierra MK.....speeds can be kept up with the 69 vs the 77 and its speed that penetrates. I use military issue 62 gr. Green tip as made by Federal and goes by "Lake City"
SOME 77 grain bullets are designed for seating out....the Sierra MK is designed to be seated normal overall length but can be seated out, which is preferred for accuracy and a tad more powder....if you seat a bullet standard that was designed to be seated out it's going to sink in the case and cause you all kinds of headaches.o
My fighting machines get Lake City 62 gr green tip.....my competition guns get the 77 grain Sierra seated to 2.430 and the 80 grainer get seated at 2.600. That 80 grain bullet will drill through a clay bird at 500 meters from a standard Colt 6940 with the factory 16" barrel.....hint...don't read too much....it's all designedly to separate you from your money.----6
ALL of my .223 match loads get H-4895 and Federal small rifle benchrest primers. Brass is once fired Remington then goes in the pot for blasting ammo. Can't give you a load.....AR's are more temperamental than bolt guns...replaced barrels, seating depths, with different throats will make a big difference.....many times a half grain added will blow a primer. Start low and work up....it takes time, practice, and patience. The longer bullets will buck the wind much better than the shorter ones. A novice can hit anything up to 300 meters.....start shooting past 300 and into 4-600 yards and being able to hit what you want consistantly
will open up a new world.

Re: Nosler .224 77grHPBT loads?
The Mini was rebarreled about three decades ago with a bull barrel with 1/9 twist, shoots a lot better than the original pencil barrel. It's the standard version not the Ranch. The AR also has an Aero Precision upper with no forward assist. Since all I've shot through them is 55gr bullets, thought I'd try the 77gr cannelured bullets just to see how they'd do, since that was all Midway had in stock. The Nosler 77 grainer is their version of the Sierra bullet. Would have gone with 75gr bullets, but 77gr was all they had at the time.
youtube-inrangetv-WWSD(what would stoner do 2017) I went with the 18" gunner match barrel.
