I ordered a new Daisy Model 25 .... it came today
and my grandson and I have been breaking it in. So far we have run 500 or so through it. The Model 25 is the single pump BB gun. I had one when I was young and it was THE hardest shooting of all the BB guns. I have to say this one definitely shoots harder than our Red Ryder BB gun. And it is faster to shoot with the pump action.
The sights are fully adjustable for windage and elevation and can quickly be changed from the "V" rear notch to a "peep" rear sight. I find the "V" to be faster for moving targets and snap shots. The "peep" is great for accuracy shooting.
Rear sight with the leaf set for the "V" rear ... note the "peep" sight folded down. The only "gripe" I have is the plastic trigger and the safety. I understand the "why's" but I will probably end up removing the safety. For $40-some odd dollars it is a great buy. Me and the grandson are enjoying it!

Re: I ordered a new Daisy Model 25 .... it came today
That's the one I mowed grass and did odd jobs when I was about 8ish...You're right...it hit pretty hard. I think it was 8 or 9 bucks back in the late 50s. I think the Adult Red Ryder I have hits
a bit harder, tho. I wish mine had that sight!!

Cool I've never seen one over here, looks like a lot of fun.
Just found out that they are being imported to the UK again after a several years but the importer has already sold out @ £75.00 ouch
Didn't know it was designed by Charles Lefever in 1914.

Jim,
Does this have a spring fed magazine that you have to take out to fill?

Yes. It holds 50 BB's.Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 5:58 pm Jim,

The Magazine is attached to the barrel ...
screw the barrel out ... fill the magazine and screw it back in.

Grasshoppers always make great targets of opportunity. Especially for BB guns.

Sounds great. Shotgun hulls might make for good targets.

Re: I ordered a new Daisy Model 25 .... it came today
Jim, this sure takes me back. My Daisy was their Model 94 "Spittin Image" lever gun. I sure put a lot of BBs down that barrel, and in my old age am ashamed of the birds I killed with it.
Dad also bought me the Daisy indoor BB trap -- a cardboard box with an opening in front that folded out to accommodate a small sheet of canvas hung inside the box by a wire rod. That canvas curtain was very effective at catching the BBs and allowing them to drop harmlessly to the floor. Funny that, much as I loved that 94, I have been a Marlin man for most of my life.
Somewhere along the line, I also had a toy rolling block rifle-- and later a wood-stocked Kadet bolt-action rifle that shot lovely round cork balls.
Glad you are making such wonderful memories with your grandson!

I've never handled one of those, but remember the pictures from way back. My brother and I were gifted a Daisy Spittin' Image back when I was 9. We bought Daisy Buck rifles for our boys when they were 5 and 6. There's a lot to be said for the good ol' BB gun for teaching kids gun safety and the basics of marksmanship.

I never had a Daisy Spitting Image 94 but until recently I had a Daisy Spitting Image Sixgun. Sold it for a lot more than it cost me.

Re: I ordered a new Daisy Model 25 .... it came today
When a kid, I compared the MV of the Red Ryder with that of my Daisy pump and bought the pump. The spring in the magazine also kept the BBs from tolling about and bugging me.
I once killed a flushing quail with it and made quite an impression on my hunting buddy.

Andy Larson of Skinner sights posted a picture a while back on Facebook of his graandkids shooting their Red Ryders with Skinner sights on them. Seems like if they did it once they could do it again.
