Yet another wet-formed holster

Post by Ysabel Kid »

Well, as long as I'm posting on these... :D

I did another one of these a couple months back. This one was repurposing another holster. I had misplaced the holster for my Colt 1917, and ordered a replacement off Etsy (and, sure enough, after not being able to find the original for months, I found it within a week of the new one arriving  ).

So, what to do with the replacement?

Well, I took a look, and the 1917 is roughly the same size as my Pietta Starr double-action. And I didn't have a holster for the Starr, so decided to wet form the Etsy 1917 to hold the Starr.

I wrapped the revolver in a meat bag (from Costco) - nice and thin, but fully encased the gun. Usual process, thoroughly soak the holster, shake the loose water off it, insert the gun wrapped in a bag, and start rubbing down the holster.

In process:

And finished:

That Starr is pretty slick. Looks good in the '17 holster.

There was a single action version at the last show I went to for $700. Probably should have bought it, but just wasn't in the buying mood.

Have fun!
