No issue with folks putting whatever they want on their levergun. But how do you put it in the saddle scabbard? This Skinner sight slides into and out of the scabbard easily without snagging and after I put a dab or thread locker on the adjustment screw’s it maintains zero.

These days I’m leaning toward a .357 carbine over the .30-30 simply because I load .38 and.357 progressively and the power difference in full house .357 loads is not as much as you might think.

This is part of the bigger problem of letting the fear of what people might think control what we might say.

I’m not sure I care what people like that think.

I’m sure if I’m judged “by a jury of my peers”, they aren’t gonna be gun guys, niceties matter to uninformed jurors .

I’ve not seen the need to shoot 400-500 yards except to hit rocks on the side of the mountain at the Whittington Center.

When I’m riding hard against the border, I invariably bring this rifle.
400 yards is beyond the purview of a "domestic use" rifle in my opinion. Thats battlefield distances

I am 73, and with no hunting buddy, or kids or grandkids to take hunting, do not hunt much anymore. I traded for two Rossi R 92's a 16 inch barrel 38/357 mag stainless, and the other a 20 inch barrel stainless 45 colt/454 casull.
I also have revolvers for the 38/357 and 45 colt, and reload for those calibers. I do have my 1911s one is 45 acp the other is a 9 mm. I also reload for those.
I figure those two calibers will handle any 4 legged and 2 legged varmints I run across.
about the only really serious things we have here in south Alabama are wild hogs, and gators.
I am retired military, and have carried, and shot M-1 Garrands, M-14s, M-16s, and still like the lever guns best

I do wish I could find about 4 or 5 good lever guns to add to my collection. In the following calibers, 308 Winchester, 300 Savage, 30-06, 30-30, and 45-70. At what I think are fair prices.

as far as the 30-30 being an anti personel round, if we could might want to ask Tom Horn about that.

No experience with using the 30-30 as an antipersonnell device. It works pretty well on deer. I don't know many people who are as tough as a deer.
