Selling a gun...go to jail...??? (the New ATF Rule)

Very disturbing.

Especially the part that says even if you sell to an FFL it is not exempted.

We need non-RINO Republicans who will actually oppose and repeal stuff like this
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws
"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

Good luck prosecuting people for "intending to make money". That involves reading people's minds.

Kind of like asset forfeiture when you travel with ‘too much’ cash, or possessing stuff to make meth; the ‘authorities’ just love impugning ‘intent’ just like they tax ‘imputed income’.

There’s a local sandwich shop a few miles down the road…..clean, hard working people, busy all the time……the guy was making cash deposits into his account……you know, doing the right thing when he easily could have pocketed it…….anyway, his deposits were in the $9,000 range. The IRS thought he was trying to beat the system by keeping his deposits below 10 G’s so they just accessed his account and took his money, somewhere a bit over $200 G’s….that was 4 years ago and he still don’t have his money back. These f ers are communists.

Yeah. "guilty until proven innocent" became acceptable when some of the churches decided that declining membership could be addressed by letting the government take over defining and enforcing morality ('vice') instead of just crime. In the name of 'the war on drugs' the Constitution was ignored. Instead of letting God deal with sinners we decided to trust government (which is full of the worst sinners) to take over. Letting government replace God is never a good idea, but even well-intended Christians often fall for the trap. The government isn't supposed to keep us from sinning by defining 'sin' and legislating it; the government's job is only to intervene when there is direct harm ('crime') to someone by another.

Notice how every time the government declares a 'war' on something, the problem gets worse instead of better...?

I sat on a Federal trial during the Savings & Loan scandals back in the early 1980's as jury foreman, and the defendant was a president of a local S&L charged with about 6 offenses; one being income tax evasion. We found him guilty of all charges except income tax evasion. He testified he had no idea he should pay taxes on money he embezzled. The feds never could prove he had even questioned in his mind that the thought of paying taxes on ill gotten gains ever crossed his mind.
Proving what someone thinks is impossible. Now if the person tells anyone he's buying with the thought of making some money, then there's a witness to his intent.

I agree - been saying that for decades.

And hold on to your wallet - these 'wars' always cost more money.

So, if I buy a product for $100 in 1999 dollars, and sell same product for $200 in 2024, have I turned a profit? Or have I just adjusted for inflation? We have been living under an anti "American" government for decades.

The proposed law is about "intent", so owning a gun that long should eliminate any "intent" to make a profit.
Now if you're sitting at a table in a gun show and you buy a gun for $100, put a tag on it for $200 and sit it on your table, I think you've pretty much proven intent and nobody would have any trouble prosecuting that scenario. If this stupid law passes.
