Fella's I didn't post this topic to stir anything up, I figured you would like to see the video. Personally I don't feel there is anything wrong with the way these guys hunt, its just not how I would have done it, I would have put the hippo down while standing in the brush. Perhaps if I had hunted with that large bore double for a while and had absolute confidence in the cartridges ability I could work up the nerve to attempt something of the sort but the most I got to worry about is the big, dangerous, man-eating deer in my neck of the woods and most any centerfire will work for them. I still think they have to be half-crazy to invoke a charge though!!

I'm not sure intelligence and antagonizing a hippo can be listed as normal.

I was quite frankly both surprised & disappointed at the intolerant "liberal" attitudes demonstrated in the remarks of some members toward an unique but quite legitimate method of hunting that satisfied the dual criteria of legality & quick, humane kill.

Surprised and disappointed is a big understatement and a BIG PLUS 1 for 86er. What are we coming too? What's the difference between what he did and predator hunting? Draw the critter in and smack em. The video aspect? I watch hunting videos all the time. Deer and predator mostly. Am I bad for watching them? Ethics have no business in hunting discussions because all we do when we bring it up is give ground to anti-hunting. Maybe we should all stop using guns and go back to spears for Lords sake.

I, myself, was very impressed. That guys has composure under fire that I have never seen. He took the extra time and made a great shot. I've had critters rush me and missed at that range. And everyone of them was a lot smaller than that and in reality I was in no danger. This was something to see and I'm glad they caught it on camera.

Looks to me that the "liberal" media anti-gun, anti-hunting population indoctrination (mass brainwashing if you will) agenda is working & people are much more susceptible to suggestion than they think or would ever admit.
The media works on the very sound theory of message saturation which means that if you repeat a message often enough the message becomes the truth.
The process is insidious, incremental & subliminal...............we get the anti message repeated many times daily from TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, the internet & brought home to us by our kids who have been pre-brainwashed before their minds have even matured by the elitist liberal-socialist academic community.............we don't notice it happening until it's happened.......it's a battle that the pro Second Amendment camp is losing on many fronts.
Some of the unfortunate remarks on this thread are cases-in-point confirmations of the cumulative effect of 40 years of indoctrination by the liberal controlled mass media & the educational environment in America.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR KIDS ARE BEING TAUGHT AT SCHOOL????...........well, it ain't just the 3 Rs.
Dr. Marshall McLuhan, a controversial figure of 60's fame, coined the phrase "The Medium is the Message" which is exponentially truer now than it was back then.
We are well on our way to becoming disenfranchised & disarmed surfs in "The Global Village" spoken of by McLuhan in his books & essays as one nation after the other subscribes to the liberal-socialist dogma & adopts draconian anti-gun laws.
