I have a bunch of "Special Run" Hornady 275 grain XTP HP's I bought off a fellow in Pennsylvania !

Think I have 200 with maybe a couple extra !

These were never marketed , or atleast thats what I was told when I got them from him . He had something like 2,000 of them !

If you're intrested you can have the ones I have for what I have in them and shipping !

That big old KickEezz Pad makes that one a ***** cat to shoot with heavy charged 400 grain cast bullets !

Come to think of it I've shot nothing but 400 or 405 graine cast bullets in this rifle since I got it !

And if I ever get tired of it , all I gotta do is remove the new stock and forend and replace it with the factory originals

Still have the Weaver K6 on top of the retro rifle . So I'm gonna try a few different loads with the Lyman 429244 HP before I remove the K6 and mount a K3 !

I've decided to use the LBT 433-340GC with 49 grains of H322 in this one during hunting season !

My plan is for the next time I visit the range to shoot the 429244 HP's with the K6 , then remove the K6 and mount the K3 at the range bore sight and then get it sighted in with the 340 grain LBT all in the same trip !

Well I took the Retro rifle to the range today and shot the Lyman 429244 HP's in it with a 6x Weaver and then swapped that for a nice old Wevaer K3 and sighted in with the LBT 433-340GC !

Here's the rifle with the K6 still on top today !

The rifle with the Weaver K3 on top !

The rifle with the Weaver K3 and my bore sighter poking out the muzzle !

Groups I shot with the K6 and the Lyman 429244 HP .

And finally the sight on with the Weaver K3 and the LBT 433-340GC at 100 yards !

Found out today when I was fondeling the retro rifle that I failed to tighten the big screws on the sides of the Weaver bases yesterday at the range !
So I tightened them today and will check the scope setting again this week !

I'm surprised the scope actually sighted in and even more so that it didn't fly off at some point as I shot it 16 times after I swapped the scopes !

Nicely done.

I've always wondered with the short barrel big bores - what's the muzzle blast like?

I ntoiced yesterday while shooting the Luman 429244 HP's that it was jumping a little !

With the 444P's I've had in the past I don't remmember that ! I think the ports cut back on the muzzle jump as they are supposed to !

I had a pair of the Marlin 1895G's in 45-70 one ported and one not . And to be honest I don't remmember a whole lot of dofference in them recoil wise or muzzle jump wise !

Works for me. Even shooting 300gr XTPs through my ported 444P the muzzle jump isn't bad. However, there is a noticeable muzzle blast when shooting at dusk

Just loaded up more of the LBT 433-340GC bullets with 49 grains of H322 to go back and MAKE SURE I'm sighted in with the Weaver K3 since some dumba$$ failed to tighten the ring to base screws fully !

Also loaded more of the Lyman 429244 HP's with H322 in 52 , 53 and 54 grains as well as IMR8208 with 53 , 54 and 55 grains . These are the same loads I shot the other day but I wanna give them all a try again !
