Old Ironsights' "Buckhammer" .357 Mag Load?

Post by nemhed »

Say old chap, I know you've posted info about this load before but with Thanksgiving just a day away I'm too lazy to search for it. Could you post the particulars again, I know your mold is a custom job. By the way, have you had any luck hunting this year? Thanks!

P.S. Sorry if you have a name for it other than Buckhammer.

It's actually Junior's load workups. Here's the link to his process.

http://castbullet.com/shooting/rossi-s3.htm

Pay attenton to COAL. I crimp above the groove on that bullet rather than trim my cases like Junior does.

(FWIW I had a different, similar mould cut by Mountian Molds that aleviated the COAL issue...)

Oh... and "Buckhammer" is a trademark of Remington. I think of it as Mini-Mjolnir

I use that same 180gr. LEE bullet with 16.0 LilGun. To get the feeding slicked up I opened up the feed rails just a touch on my Rossi 92.

Ah yes, thank you for refreshing my memory of the Castbullet.Com article. I 'm not certain this loading is a prospect for a Marlin 1894. That also reminded me that my father-in-law has the RCBS 38-158 SWC that is referenced in the article. If I can get a 165gr gaschecked bullet with that mold I think I know what I'm going to be doing at my FIL's over the holiday weekend. My apologies to Remington's lawyers, I know I didn't dream up that name. I do like the name mini-mjolnir.

Thanks guys!

Does shooting a mini-mjonir make the rifle or the rifleman a mini-Thor?

I don't have to wonder.

I am Thor.

Here is Mjolnir:

Mini Mjolnir just needs more than a leather thong to launch it at foes.

I don't want to seem picky, but I believe that should be "mjilnor".

Hey, who's got (or at least had) a complete (original) set of Rydberg's Teutonic Mythology here? (IIRC There were only 500 sets printed. Ever. )

It's Mjöllnir or, at worst, Mjölner. (Rydberg uses Mjolner - no umlat.)

Make me figure out how to do umlats... grumble...

O.I. I don't want to think about you launching anything in a leather thong :) :D
Besides I've found three different spellings, as my kids would say "It's the thunder god's big poundy thing..y".

Two things:

1. I'd be thor, too, if I had to swing that thing all day.

2. I like saying "umlaut." Try it a few times, especially around people who don't know what an umlaut is.

I don't know what you guys use, but I use 16.0 gr. ''Lil gun with a 180 gr. LBT FN GC home cast bullet. Beer cans at 300 yards are in grave danger with this load. Shoots so much better then my old load of 2400 as to be incredible. Ooops, thats what you guys said as well heh? Anyway, it's become my favorite rifle cartridge combo period! Best!

Monday & Tuesday gets another field test....

I can take 3 deer on one tag (without voiding the tag for later) if I get the shots .

I love Park Reduction hunts.
