Does anyone have a Henry in .30-30?

Post by piller »

I looked a Henry in .30-30 over a few days ago in an Academy Sports and Outdoors store. It cycled smoothly, felt good, fit and finish seemed good, but it was heavier than the Marlin 336C next to it. Does anyone here have one and what do you think of them. I like everything about it but the wieght, and that I can deal with. I am looking for some ideas before I buy a .30-30, and I have narrowed it down to the Henry and the Marlin.

Anthony Imperato is sending me one for testing. I saw one and handled it but did not get to fire it. I thought it was first class and I actually like the weight because it seems it should make the ability to get off a second shot very quick due to lack of muzzle jump/recoil.

Joe, I'll be looking forward to your report on the testing. If you have it with you on the April hunt, I'll bring some cartridges and targets if you want.

Howdy,
I have one here. It's been too cold to do a bunch of shooting. It functions well, seems to shoot somewhere close to where you point it. I've only shot 5 rounds thru it. I've cycled quite a few more, though. It's a lot warmer in the house... I like the heavy octagon bbl.

Paul, that is helpful. How easy is it to clean?
