Winchester 9422 question

Post by mod71alaska »

I want to replace a buttstock on one of my 9422s. There isn't a securing tang screw on the 9422 like on the Model 94, 71, etc. Does anyone know how the buttstock on a 9422 is removed?

Thanks

Remove the buttplate, there's a screw in there. Here's a diagram:

Thanks for your assistance, Claybob86. I'm putting this stock set on that 9422.

Beautiful wood! Hope to see a picture after it's on the rifle, too! :D

Jeez that's radiant. That is going to be fantastic. Are you going to have any checkering added or leave it smooth?

I always keep my eye out for beautiful rifle stocks, and I was in the right place at the right time.

Rimfire McNutJob,

This is an older Winchester 9422 Deluxe stock set so I'm going to keep it smooth and original. The grain is just too pretty to break up with checkering anyway I think.
