New member picking up new gun tomorrow

Post by 2fewdaysafield »

Hi All,

Really glad I found this site. My first ever deer rifle back in 1974 was a Winchester model 94 30-30. Gave it to my kid brother about 8 years later to get his first deer and have been hunting with bolt guns ever since. Recently I've decided that shooting deer in open fields at long distance just isn't much fun anymore so I decided to go back into the woods and hunt 'em up close and personal.

To that end, tomorrow I pick up my Henry Repeating Arms .357. I am all kinds of excited!

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a great plan - only made better by posting pictures of your new gun and then a range or hunting report - with pictures!!! :D

I'm considering a 357 myself, in a model 92. But I am a little torn between that and 45LC as I am already set up to reload for it.
Congrats and welcome

"2fewdaysafield" - hope that changes soon; of course it couldn't ever become "2manydaysafield" because there IS no such thing as that...!

Thanks Guys!

Sorry no pics today. Didn't get home till after dark and my digital camera takes lousy flash pics. I'm off tomorrow and will post ASAP.

Picked her up. And she is GORGEOUS! Of course, she's a little on the heavy side. Has to be with that big old octagonal barrel. My Lord, that thing is as big as a cannon!

I'm going to like this gun!

Welcome to the fray.

Many people start off with a levergun and like many things history has a way of repeating itself. It's a disease really and if you hang around here long enough you'll soon come to release you can't just have one.

Know what you mean about the disease kimwcook. While my FFL was calling the sale in to NICS, I was browsing the shelves. There was this nice little Henry in .22 WMR. It kept calling to me......I got out of there without bankrupting myself, but it was a close thing. Of course, I've got the Henry .357, and a brush gun should be light, which the Henry isn't, and the Rossis and Pumas can be had for fairly reasonable $$$, soooo...... Anybody got an antidote? Or is it too late? On second thoughts, forget the antidote, I'll just start planning the next one!

Pics this afternoon.
