The slide didn't move. There was no recoil either.

When we lived in Idaho a few years ago, there was a couple fellows that tried it. They had what they thought was a bullet proof vest, when it really was just an old military flack jacket. Idiot "A" shot idiot "B" with a 9mm and killed him.

No worries. Here's some real ones for you. Richard Davis founded Second Chance Vests. His selling shtick was to shoot himself with a gun borrowed from one of the cops out in the audience. Talk about leaving a mark... :o

Travis, those of us here in Texas with more than two active brain cells call guys like that "Idjits". They are decidedly not representative of what you normally find here.

I read a story a few years ago about a cop who had his gun on a perp and told him to stop. The perp kept coming, so the cop dropped his point of aim to the perp's crotch, and the perp gave up immediately. When asked why he only stopped when the cop aimed at his crotch, the perp said, "You was goin' to shoot my b@lls off!" Brilliant, just brilliant...

I think that was just staged for a You Tube video to get lots of views, and it worked. No smoke, no recoil, no slide movement. So who's the clever one, the guys in the video or those who fell for it?

The blood looked real! But it was faked, I think, no recoil and the slide did not move as said before.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. This was fake, but some moron is going to try it for themselves with a real round. Eventually someone is going to miss the vest, but hit the wearer.

Only positive thing is that it would indeed clean the gene pool a bit...

So what else is new. Here is one supposedly from the 1920's showing a test of bullet proof glass. I often wonder if this is real and what the outcome was. Can you imagine that glass plate thrown back against his skull? Or the bullet fragments in both hands?

There's a similar picture in Ed McGivern's "fast and fancy revolver shooting" with a state cop standing behind the glass. I'd much rather have had McGivern shooting than soome nitwit like the one in the picture.

That might be real, the video quality was so poor and choppy the recoil could have been missed. I had a friend a few years back that had his brother-in-law shoot him with a 22rimfire rifle while wearing a bullet-proof vest. It left about the same type wound on him as it did the boy in the video. He still has a pretty good scar. Did I mention some of my friends ain't too smart !!! If I was to let someone shoot me while wearing a vest I wouldn't pick a in-law, They'd probably miss the chest area and hit me in the forehead.  Dave

WhenI was in high school, Richard Davis came to our school. In front of the entire school, in the gymnasium, he took out a .44 magnum and shot himself in the abdomen while wearing a Second Chance vest. IIRC, he had a phone book stuck underneath the vest to prevent bruising. Upon firing, pages literally whot out from under the vest. :o

A gun. Fired. In a school.
