Here's what I got for my $300 Glock

Post by TedH »

Made the trade with my co-worker this afternoon. My old Glock 19 for this recent manufacture Single Six. Can't wait to get to the range with it. Those of you that have shot them, do you find the 22 Mags to be less, more, or equal in accuracy to the 22 LR?

So as not to be OT, a nice combo with my Henry.

Nice trade there. Typically the single six will shoot the 22 mag better than the 22lr. This is due to the barrel being sized for the 22mag which is slightly larger than the 22lr (.224 vs .222). You might consider slugging the barrel to determine the bore size. Mine slugged at .225, so it makes sense that it would like the larger diameter bullet of the 22mag. FWIW the cci mini mag is the most accurate22 lr, and the cci maxi mag is the most accurate 22mag in my single six.

That would be nice if mine were the same, because that's the ammo my Henry likes best as well.

Nice TedH, your going to love that revolver! Like 95fan said the Mag seems to shoot better in mine as well. But some of them shoot the LR better, go figure.
Both of mine like Winchester Super X 40 gr. and Dynapoints in the magnum. The LR likes CCI Mini Mags and the Federal bulk pack shoots almost as good.

Not less or more, but a different POI. Man, that shooter comes alive with Maggies in them.

I've been wanting one of those for awhile now, only 6.5".

I had my first encounter with a .22Mag Saturday in the form of a Marlin bolt action. Real sweet to say the least. Now, I want one in the Ruger even more. :x

That is a sharp looking Ruger. I shot a three screw 6" A LOT growing up, but it stayed with my parents when I left town. It shot very well with LRs, and even better with mags.

I missed it so much I bought my own several years back (2003) - the 50 year commemorative fixed sight version. It has a slightly canted front sight and is regulated very poorly. It groups badly with LRs and even worse with Mags. I spoke with David Clements (last week actually) and he said it's very hit-and-miss with the Single Sixes. He said the Winchester HP standard velocity ammo usually gives the best accuracy for the LRs, so I will try that. I don't know what I'll do about the sights though.

Anyway, good luck to you and hopefully you got a good one.

My son had a .22 Bisley that was only made for .22 LR. We had to search for a Magnum cylinder for it. It shot good with both.

Very nice swap indeed! Yep my experience is the same...better accuracy with the 22 Mags, but the lr's don't do too badly.

My single six shoots both well. SECRET is DON'T clean it!! If I clean my 22LR cylinder I get teriable accuracy for 50 shots then it shoots great. I tested and retested and I just don't clean it anymore. Still shoots great! J.Michael
