Prayer Reguest - Ethiopia Missions Trip

Post by rjohns94 »

Folks, in 10 days I take off for a two week missions trip to Ethiopia. The purpose of the trip is to bring fresh water to a town of 15,000 and to train local Christian leaders in developing their leadership skills. In this town, 80% of disease experienced, is caused by water born pathogens. We take much for granted here in this country.

This is a self supported trip. I will be surveying the town, looking at water supplies, testing water, investigating water storage and delivery and sewage disposal. From the survey, a plan will be developed to put in place 6 10,000 gallons/day water purifying systems, suitable storage facilities, and delevery systems to the town residents. The town sits at 9000 feet elevation. I will be gone for two weeks this trip. I plan two trips a year for the next 5 years for the project to be complete.

I was hoping to get some prayers going for the town officials to continue being receptive to this task, for travel mercies, for the survey to be completed, for the people in this distant land who will be affected with the new fresh water, for the leaders who I will be training and for the funds to be delivered in the future for the systems.

Thanks for your prayers.

Mike,

My friend, some of us would like to supplement those prayers with cash. Please post an address, and to whom checks should be made out, and I'm sure you'll get some much needed earthly help.

Mike,

I'm humbled by your courage and commitment to doing God's work. I know you've sold your own guns on this forum to raise money for this effort, and that the trip is funded out of your pocket. My prayers are with you in this venture, and for a safe trip in a dangerous part of the world.

God bless!

Prayers and support

Post by rjohns94 »

Thank you all for the prayers and also the offer to support . I am humbled and grateful. I have already paid for my trip so there is no need for cash for me but if you want to be a financial part of the ongoing work there, You can send a check made out to: LWCC (and note it for Ethiopia Water fund) to my address : 89 meadow hill drive, york pa. 17402. I will give the checks to the person in charge of the fund to bring water to Sendafa, Ethiopia. You in turn will get a receipt for your tax purposes. Thank you for that. Your prayers will go a long way in giving me the strength and encouragement to complete the task. I will post an update on the trip and results later. Thank you all very much for your prayers and support.

Mike,
You're in our prayers here for sure. A friend of mine was sent to Africa courtesy of the U.S. Army to drill water wells. they were also given the task of putting some out of order wells back in working order. I'm sure you know you'll be dealing with a very primitive people who have their own sense of right and wrong. My friend found out that only a hand pump is within the abilities of these people. A solar powered electric pump is more than they can handle as they don't have the background. When the electric pump wouldn't work it was dismantled.

Happy Trails and God Bless,
Rusty <><
