Are you alone for the Holidays?

Post by 86er »

Once again this year I am making this offer with no strings attached. If you are going to be alone for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years, you are invited to come spend it with my family and I in TX. I will not ask "why" and there will be no judgement. Just a few good meals, friendship and fun - and maybe some shooting. In the past I was able to fund round trip transportation but unfortunately, this year I can't afford to fund anything but fairly local transportation. If you are interested, PM me. This will be kept in confidence. I have never revealed the names or forum names of my past guests except the few that said it was okay at the completion of their visit with us. We had 4 guests in 2005, 4 in 2006, 2 in 2007 and 1 in 2008. This year my wish is that nobody on the forum is in the position to take me up on this offer, but if somebody is that they do.

I'll be rolling down some highway during Thanksgiving with my dog Keylock. My wife is with her family in Canada where they celebrate their thanksgiving in October. My company will reimburse me $15 for my Tday meal. :D

Joe you are a very kind and generous man. That's exactly the kind of spirit that should be alive and well during the holidays. My hats off to you for what you do. God bless and I hope you and any guests that are fortunate enough to drop in have a very happy Thanksgiving.

wow, that's awesome! I'm thankful that I'll have my wonderful wife of 14 years (and the dog!) to spend the holidays with. They are about the only ones that will put up with me

I am cooking a turkey, and have invited the local bachelors.
I suspect it will be quite festive with a bunch of single men around.

Joe,

That is mighty nice of you. i'd concider accepting the invitation myself but if I did it would leave Mom at home alone with the dogs. So I guess i'd better start planning Thanksgiving dinner.

I've about decided to cook a Brisket in a Dutch Oven rather than a turkey. With just two of us, a turkey would go bad and burn us out before we finished it.

If anyone wants to join us for a South Alabama Thanksgiving, just give me a PM and I'll not only send directions, I'll toss a few more beans in the pot.

Joe, it's a fine and wonderful gift you provide every year, and truly represents the spirit of this forum. Blessings on you and your family during the holiday season and throughout the year, for He is surely watching with approval..

It's a good gesture you've been doing, straight from the heart. Prayers and blessings to you in your reaching out.

I may not make it back to see family again this year, but there's a good church and community here, and they open their homes on holidays. There's always meals at a couple of folks houses, and a community dinner for Thanksgiving and other holidays. Good folks, and good friends.

Once again Joe you've gone the distance to make a spot for those in need regardless of the need. This kind of effort is what defines a man. Good on ya. Hope you have a pleasant Holiday Season.

As always 86er, you do yourself and the rest of the human race proud
by making such an offer. I'm thankful I'm not in a position to take you
up on it, but your generosity is noted.
