There's actually 3 of them. the first on the scene was the R&D replacement cylinder. Then came the Kirst. Now as of about 2 years ago Uberti makes an in the box complete Remington conversion. Which one are you referring to?

On a side note I built this one from a Pietta 58. Many hours. About the time I finished it Uberti came out with theirs.

i have a pietta 1858 that i converted to .45colt.. as the above poster stated these are not drop-in coversions.. if you like working on your guns get a krist... i dont have any time on an r&d but i have heard they were very good... if you do not want to do the gun plumming your self buy the factory... i love mine as it takes one scew to change from .45colt back to .44bl...

ill get some pics up asap

Well.....I am not sure as I am new to replica firearms. I was looking at the Uberti website and had assumed that the revolver I was looking at was one that fires a standard factory load centerfire shell. Maybe you guys can educate me.

I appreciate it...thanks,

I got one from Cimmarron when the first came out and it was a fine revolver. It shot to poa and was as smooth as any factory gun with a 3 1/2 pound trigger. No problems after 400 rounds of black and smokless.

Jerry,

These are factory manufactured replicas of conversion guns. They come from the factory chambered for the cartridges listed below the pictures and descriptions.

Of those the Remington replica will be the strongest and most durable, but NONE of them should be fired with ammo exceeding black powder pressures.
That is why it is recommended to shoot the cowboy action level loads in them.

I purchased one in the box a bit over a year ago. Came with a spare C&B cylinder and a R&D conversion cylinder in .45 Colt. Took it out with Y2K (my son, 10 at the time) to test fire it with some CAS loads. Had a hard time getting it away from him afterwards!
