OT-Thought provoking sig line

Post by awp101 »

On another forum I visit from time to time, a poster has a signature along these lines:

Be kind to everyone you meet, they may be fighting battles of which you have no awareness

I've always thought it was an interesting outlook on life but tonight it made a little more sense. We found out my out of state SiL lost her FiL today. The short version is her husband died last year, her FiL was living with them and he passed today.

Here's the kicker, neither one of them were terribly good to her. They could be, and were, mean spirited and to my understanding at least verbally and mentally abusive and the FiL managed to run his own kids off other than my late BiL.

Pondering what kind of relief she must be feeling right now over and above no longer having the stress of caring for an ungrateful invalid, that sig line popped into my head.

I guess I'll always wonder what battles the father and son were fighting inside themselves that made them the way they were...

A good thought to keep in your head for sure!
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

This concept has become more clear to me as I grow older. Especially with those chance encounters when another persons actions seem out of place with the situation. The old line "Don't judge another until you have walked a mile in his shoes" has been turned into a joke in recent years but the fundamental idea is still valid.

Without a doubt, but it doesn't do anything for the "human stress" in the meantime.:(

I suspect she'll be much happier now. The family we've taken care of during their last days were grateful. I can't imagine taking care of someone who goes out of their way to act like a spoiled child and make the caretaker feel guilty on purpose.

Ram Hammer, my job involves going into peoples homes to fix things and let's face it, no one ever calls the reapirman to say things are hunky dory...;)

My Dad did this same job for over 30 years and one of the first things he taught me was "You never know what has happened in that house in the five minutes before you knock on the door.". People do and say things in their own home they wouldn't dare say to another stranger out in public.

That is the straight truth.

I get it all the time. (Propane and propane accessories)

I think most people in todays society are lonely. The industrial model has very limited opportunities to socialize. Combine that with the socialist war on the family unit and sense of community. And this is what you get.

They want to talk to somebody. They just don't have the skill anymore. My wife and coworkers are constantly astonished by the fact that I will talk to anyone just about.
