I reckon this to be proof I am a hillbilly
This picture is Mrs. Grace Allen, my grandmother in 1958 with her two squirrel/farm dogs and a 27 year old horse we were still working some.
and me when I was 12 in 1956. I could sell groundhogs for .50 to $1.50 depending on size and age. That kept me in .22 ammo. When I wasn't working I was hunting or target shooting. Right, we never wore shoes or shirts in the summer!

Wow, 27! I had no idea horses even lived that long. We had a pony when I was a kid, died at 19, and we thought that was pretty old. We had not ridden her in probably 4 or 5 years. I understand a pony is not a horse, but still...

That is a Winchester model 67 (I think the grooved stock indicates a 1933 manufacture, and that is the year it was bought). Of course I still have it, and still use it. As to the horses, we had a team and they were 26 and 27 when Gramp sold them in 1958 and bought a younger horse. They were not worked hard but they still pulled the wagon, poles for wood, a 7 tooth cultivator, laying off plow, mowing machine, hay rake and potatoe plow. We didn't know they were hard times, as we always had plenty to eat and had neighbors that didn't have that sometimes.

Hey there fatoldfool – This is my dad and me off for some pheasant hunting in the fields behind our place in 1955. I still hunt in that field coat to this day. I’ll slip on the sweat shirt and hat occasionally for an important shooting event, just as a reminder of where I came from. Best regards. Wind

saw a beautiful old McCormick orchard tractor yesterday like this one, only the one I saw had front fenders, too
Looked like Bel Geddes meets Farmall
Does the fact that I got excited about it mean that I'm a hillbilly, too?
