Steve,
I don't have a Dillon, but that looks like the ticket for tightening up my HAMMR pistol rest. No wonder they quit making them....

Superb. I'd heard a reference to this upgrade before, but no details. Your post, part numbers, pics, etc sold me. I got em on order. Is the bolt diameter of the 550 the same as a 650?

Steve,

Thank you for the excellent post and photo documentation. It all made the issue and resolution quite clear. I'm saving this in case I expand my reloading bench to include a Dillon!

That is a good idea! I don't have a Dillon but it would work on my old Lyman turret press.

Yes it is and this will work just fine on your 550B too.

Thanks Steve.

My issue with the shell holders has always been setting up dies. If the shell holder is loose enough to run smoothly, you set up the seat/crimp die with a single round in the press, then when you have a round in the sizing and expanding stations it "teeters" the plate differently, changes the OAL and effects the crimp. Not usually a big deal, but can be if dealing with bullets with an ogive, no cannalure, etc. Making the shell holder run true by using the bearing is a great idea.

Steve,
You should call Dillon on this.

Update: I mean Dillon would surely like to know how they could improve their product.
