OT- 1908-1925 Husqvarna Model 25 cal. rifle in 32-20?
My son gave me a gift card to Cabela's for my birthday. My wife and I went there today in Fort worth. I wasn't looking for a gun but ran across this bolt action, octagon barrel, 32-20 in the used rack. It looked like it might be fun to shoot but no one new much about it. They had originallly priced it at 749.00, then put it on sale at 499.00. I went to the Gun Libary manager Kurt and bargined him down to 365.00 and bought it. I don't know much about it but ran across a little on the net. Does anyone know much about these?
This is a very unusual single shot rifle by Husqvarna of Sweden. The model 25 made from 1908-1925 It looks a little like a mini copy of the Mauser 1871 action. Caliber is 32-20 It is in very nice shape other than some old areas of neglect up near the muzzle. See photos. It has most of the original color case hardening and doesn’t appear to have been shot much. The bore is nice with very strong deep rifling. Sling swivels. Checkered pistol grip on a European Walnut stock. 2 leaf folding sight. It has a 25 inch Octagon barrel.

That rifle might not be safe for you to shoot. Tell ya what, I am a highly qualified gunsmith, send it on out to me and let me examine it for you for a few years, I'll send it right back as soon as I can make a determination. Promise.

Nice rifle! They are not seen so often here anymore, as people sorrowly choose to sell them away due to our six long gun limit. And then the guns take a boat trip to the US, where they find new, more caring owners. Indeed a part of our cultural heritage goes that way.
Anyway, for your enjoyment, I'd like to post some links about Husqvarna. The history of Husqvara reminds a bit of Winchester's. The production ceased in 1970, to the grief of swedish hunters and shooters. And there is also a peripety in the quality - not 1964, but pre- and postwar guns. Prewars, as your singleshot, were significantly better worked, and had superior balane. About your nice single shot, however, not very much has been written.
First a complete list of all Husky models. http://www.skydevaaben.com/allhvamodels/info.xml
On rimfire guns - Google translated. The translation "shop guns" for "rimfire gun" is strange, but the translation machine is not as clever as we are, just a bit faster. http://translate.google.se/translate?hl ... d%3D386198
An article on rolling blocks from Husqvarna - Google translated. http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... =&ie=UTF-8
On hammer guns - Google goes stupid again and has "male" for "hammer". Swedish has "hane" for hammer, and that means "male" or "rooster", the latter being more correct, if not appropiate. http://translate.google.se/translate?hl ... d%3D331108

Good job!
I've been eyeing that one for about 6 months but never got motivated enough to research it and didn't want to take a blind leap on it...

Great looking rifle. I've always like the European roundbutted PG's. I think their very aesthetically pleasing.

I LIKE it ! ! It sorta looks like a Winchester Model 68 on steroids, with a bit of Browning T-Bolt thrown in.

I know of one dealer down here that has an old 22LR Husqvarna for £100 and another dealer who, I think "may" have a Husqvarna in 32-20 but it's locked away in storage and he can't remember the make or price..
RR I like yours a lot, I hope it shoots well.

I cleaned it up today to get ready to shoot it but it rained all day. I probably will take it to the ranch Monday. I'll be in touch. The photos are of one on the net. Mine is very near the same condition though.
