A good day practicing gun control

Post by FWiedner »

I had a good day at the range.

I got my 10/22 sighted in to 3/8" groups at 25 yards. I reckon that'll dispatch any squirrel I've encountered in Texas to date.

I had my Model 94 .30-30 Trapper shooting sub 1" groups at 100 yards. Oh Yeah, them clankedy old lever guns ain't accurate fer nuthin'. Short barrels ruin accuracy don't ya know. Hogs beware.

But what made my day was this 3 shot group from 200yds with my Marlin 1895CB using a Skinner peep sight. Remington factory 405gr SP.

It was a good day.

I'm using one of Dr. Skinner's older ladder sights, and I like it a lot.

It'll do the job if you've got lots of time to range a target and adjust your sights, but a fellow would have to pick an elevation setting and get studied up on the trajectory of the venerable .45-70 before hunting at unknown or unpredictable distances.

:)
